Dear Lil’ Sis and the Admiral,
I thought I’d put down a couple things that happened since we last conversed. When we got done with our phone call I suddenly got sick – I shivered and I had such a headache. I thought I better get a flu shot. Just never thought of it. Funny the nurses never suggested it. So here I am on Saturday – can't stay awake and don’t feel like I can do anything. If this don’t go over, I won’t be going to church. I’m unsteady.
On Friday morning (same day you called) I bought groceries and went to the library. Amelia wasn’t working on Friday. Well anyway, I stopped in back (handicap parking there), but quite a few steps up to the library. Well, I must have looked like a tottering old lady – anyway a black man came down and offered his arm. I took it, I never hardly looked at him because I have to watch my steps. Anyway, he took me up the steps into the library. I thanked him, he was a nice looking person. But this happens a lot to me – people always opening doors, etc. Well, I think what I’ll do now is drink something. I haven’t eaten anything yet.
Sunday
Lukes got 2” of rain. Got over my sickness, went to Luke’s church and Bible study and a fundraiser lunch. Jacob got my food and got a table. So he waited on me! Then went home – read paper, took a nap, then watched tv until 9.
Monday
9:45 went to the doctor for that sore on my arm. He said come back in a week to see if it’s getting better. They took my blood – and found out it was way too thin – so they adjusted my Coumadin level. I got a flu shot and pneumonia shot. Then after dinner went to Bible study, Linda offered to pick me up. Bible study was the same as Luke’s church, so I could contribute a lot. Wow! Then everybody looked at my sore and one lady said I should do what her grandma always did – put honey on a sore. So I did this morning. We’ll see what happens.
Tuesday
In the mood for cooking, so I made a pea salad. Boiling some potatoes for potato salad. Now I’m resting. Would like to make a casserole but didn’t take hamburger out of the freezer. I also sliced up a French bread to dry and then can have French toast. Jesse – Jane's husband – had a motorcycle accident when he tried to avoid the neighbor’s chickens on the road. He got gravel burns on his arm. I asked if the chickens were alright. A little rain again today.
Thursday morning
I just sat down, I think for the rest of the day, after I made pea salad and potato salad, I decided to make a pan of peanut bars. I had to melt my Butterscotch morsels with oleo and syrup in the microwave – took so long. Then I put in chopped peanuts and spread them on the bottom crust. Well it was still so stiff I couldn’t spread it good, but tastes good. Kids will eat it. I made it before and it was a disaster then too. We are having a pizza party next Tuesday. Cost $1.50. I’m going, it’s good pizza from Dominos.
3 o’clock. I took a nap about 4 – overslept my pizza party, one of the girls brought it to me. Pretty cold, so I warmed it up in the oven. But it wasn’t a very good piece, leather like.
Wednesday
Baked rolls – pull aparts. Turned out real good. Made a cucumber-tomato salad recipe I found. Wasted the afternoon.
Thursday
Went to the chiropractor. Seems I’m getting my arthritis back, arms and neck hurt. First time – I ate dinner at McDonalds – Egg McMuffin and hash browns. I thought it was sure good and my refrigerator is full! Am signing off. Got the paper and afraid I’m not going to get anything done this afternoon. Love you and Admiral too!
