One May Morning
romanticizing a cold night frozen in time by memory
Listen close as I tell you dear the story of how we got you here. I can still remember that night like it only happened last. The way that it sits in my memory bank as if its the only thing worthy of being cashed. I knew it was a moment I'd want to last, indulge me now as I reminisce on my past. It was early but of course I had not slept. I was so busy waiting I never would've dreamt. The entire day prior I walked thru the halls my heart racing fast like the runners on track. For just outside the gym is where it would be, he would hand me a flier yellow as can bee and whisper to me that there was something I just NEEDED to sea. We agreed to meet just him and me while the world was still asleep. When I went home that night all I could think was how beautiful our lives are meant to be. As the sun filled my bedroom with light, the excitement I had grew just as bright. I went down stairs brewed some water with lime it was all I could think to do with my time. I was hoping he might jog or even act like he was being chased by a dog, I swear I should have logged all the plays my mind made as an attempt to force the wait to fade. Reality began to shift as I noticed his silhouette approach my frosted window bay. I look at my bed once more for it still made from the day before. He ever so gently lifted the glass pane up, and out of the way he smiled so great with his teeth taking up his entire face in a fashion elegant enough to take my breathe away. It was at this place I was able to recognize what they mean by declaring fate. For there was no other way to describe how lovely he made that wonderful day in May. Without even saying a word and in a kind of strange way he was able to make me feel safe. More so even now the easiest way to take all of my pain away is one simple grin from that admirable man I met in my school days. As we walked thru the grass in the fields behind where we first met in class, I could hear the yellowish leaves crack underneath our feet; the wind moved ever so slightly and the whispers of crickets created a symphony only for me. As we got closer to the beach there was something in the way he held me. It was almost as if my hand was the only thing keeping him from drifting; later he would go on to state how I was the only thing keeping him from flying away. Once we made it past the thick trees, thru the brush and out to the open: my skin began to tremble and shake with the swift choreography of wind taking its space in that now sacred place. Taking off his coat draping it over me I still cant get over his sacrifice of warmth for little ole me. If it not for sanity I would swear that in those moments I had been floating thru the chilling air. All it would take is one small thing for him to say, to have me riddled in love my mind never wanting to escape. He began by stating that I was all he needed to stop from running away, and that if he blessed with a chance to stay, he would prove that we were in fact one in the same. As quick as he could blink I began to pray that his love for that lonely girl would never change. After that our simple pack was made and then everything seemed to go away. We continued silently the rest of the way. Over rocks and thru the sand onto the frozen pond is where we would stand, nervous as could be he would make his first move leaning in to kiss me. My lips still taken back I was clearly in a daze. In that moment we begin to create our own little fantasy; something so great wed never wanna leave. From our minds and into the world we were able to make our perfect little girl and here now you lay our darling creation who will one day undoubtedly live a story just as magnificent as she.
