Nursery must haves
My top 10 to help ease those first few months with a newborn

Having your first baby or even another baby in general, can be stressful in itself. when you add on the task of getting everything in order before baby it can be even worse. 9 months always sounds like a long time, until the 7th month rolls around and you're in a deep panic realizing the nursery is empty or you just have a ton of swaddle blankets, clothes, and diapers from your baby shower.
To ease this panic I've created a must have list that made me feel actually prepared when my daughter came along.
Bassinet - obviously every family is different, but for most their baby sleeps in the parent's room for about the first 6 months. In this case it's more handy to have a bassinet of some sort rather than a crib. I had both because the crib was a gift, but if you're on a budget or don't have the space you can definitely wait. Personally I love the longevity that comes with a Pack N Play, as well we the ease of storage.
Sound machine - At first I thought this was just extra, but with all the recommendations and science about the womb being so noisy I decided to make the splurge with a Hatch sound machine. WOW. On vacations, during fourth of July fireworks, even normal nights, this was a life saver. Each baby is unique in what sounds they find the most soothing. I've seen plenty say they swear by washer machine sound, but for my girl it was all about the waves. And honestly having a nightlight on it makes a huge difference for late night diaper changes or feedings.
Blackout curtains - again sounds unnecessary, but makes a huge difference. Naps are easier, and early mornings don't occur as often. For travel convenience and the fact we had to do it to multiple windows, blackout cling rolls from Amazon worked amazing.
Pacifier - This is something that is especially unique to each baby. Mine for instance will only take the ones with round straight nipples, but I also know many babies who wouldn't take any kind. However I still recommend getting just one of each style/shape. Because my baby loves the round kind, the Philips Avent soothies have been a hit. Now that her dexterity has improved the WubbaNub has been the cutest.
Changing Pad - an obvious one, but I felt the need to include this one because of the fact I've noticed the silicone wipeable pads have become a popular option. While I was tempted I’m very happy I chose a more traditional style. When the occasional mess does occur I just use a changing pad liner, super easy clean up.
Swing - this is where I have found "every baby is different" the most true. I loved my swing because it could keep little one entertained, especially with the moving mobile. However the preferred way she liked to be rocked made me really wish I had just gotten the 4moms mamaroo. Also my girl got bored of it around 5 months, thankfully I had a friend I could give it too. Graco now has an option that is marginally cheaper than the previously mention with the same features.
Baby Monitor - The Lollipop baby monitor has been so amazing. My mother even compliments this all the time as she has a shared link where she can view it on her phone as well. I know there is debate on Wi-Fi monitors regarding their safety of hacking into. However, this has given me so much piece of mind when I'm not at the house and someone else is watching her because I can check in anytime. The picture quality is great even in night vision! While I don’t find myself needing some features just yet, I can’t wait to see how well the cross detection does for those inevitable times when toddlers try to crawl out of their crib.
Closet Organizer - Our house doesn't have much room for storage so all of her spare things like the stroller seat that's too big, her convertible car seat, portable bathtub, etc. go into her closet. Because so much goes into her closet and its not very big being able to create more space is a must.
Glider/Recliner - The first few nights were so rough having to get up constantly to feed, majority of which took place in my glider. mine came with an ottoman that also rocks but it's very awkward and squeaky. With the swollenness that happens in the beginning I do not recommend not having something to put your feet up!
Baby wrap/carrier - In the beginning let’s face it babies are clingy, and they have a right to be they’re newborns. If I ever wanted to be able to clean up around the house or say make myself a meal the only way I could do it was with her right up against me. And it almost always resulted in an adorable nap. These are also perfect for when you’re getting out of the house on those rare occasions.
