New At Home Mom

During the Pademic

EXHAUSTED!

Can we all talk about us Moms all of a sudden becoming at home moms for the first time?! I’m here to tell you my story and to give advice on keeping a “level head.”

I got out of the military in January and had a job right after that made me the same amount of money. Then BOOM! Pandemic. My husband was very adamant about taking the kids out of daycare and me watching them at home. I didn’t agree at first. Then, family members started passing away left and right.

Here we are in October, and we are broke, have past due bills, my kids need dental work done, I’m still trying to fight out insurance for damages to our house from Hurricane Michael and VIRTUAL. Holy shoot!

I am not going to lie, I have had a handful of meltdowns during this time. I forgot to mention I suffer from severe depressive disorder, severe anxiety, and hypersomnia. However, I keep telling myself that I cannot let my mental disabilities effect my kids. They are dealing with a lot, too.

So, what do you do? To be honest, there is not much. There is hope, though! As crazy as it may seem one of the best things I do to calm my anxiety and almost panic attack is turn the shower on HOT (for me) and sit you sad ass down in the shower and just let it pour over you. It’s my time to cry and to let that shit out. If you didn’t know, crying is good for you. Your kids will be fine while you do your thing for 10min or however long. Then, get out of the shower and feel the cold air hit your body and let that shit go. As hard as it may be for you remember that your kids need you more than you think.

I have to constantly remind my husband that the kids are also going insane being in the hiuse all of the time. That this isn’t normal for them either, but we are doing what we can to help them stay safe during the pandemic. Yah, the kids may not get many symptoms, or any at all, from the Coronavirus, but every kid is different and I am not willing to take that gamble.

So, remember. You are doing this for your KIDS. It is temporary and this too shall pass.
