Mystical Mia’s Magical Adventure

Dear Diary,

Today is my 7th birthday 10/31/2020! Do you know what's best about my birthday? It's on Halloween which means on top of presents I get candy too! YUM!

I'm about to get ready for school which I'm looking forward to seeing all my friends today! My mom woke me up extra early today because she had something very special for me so I ran downstairs right away to see what the surprise was!

It was a locket, a locket that my dad had, I wish dad was here to celebrate with us. We miss him dearly and mom works all the time to help keep us afloat! She's a hard worker, she's my hero, I love my mom I just wish something would make her extra happy again.

Oops... It's getting close for me to leave for school.

Mia stuffs her diary in her backpack and snatches up the locket her mother gave her earlier this morning.

As Mia’s mother is driving her to school she says, “By the way Mia, the locket is an antique that your father gave me when we were much younger, I was never able to open it, but I wouldn't try to force the locket open it is very delicate”

Mia responded, “Okay mom, I won't!”

Mia finally arrives at School and goes through her typical school day English, math, social studies, and gym class with a little extra fun to celebrate Halloween!

Time flies by when you're having fun.

The day finally turns to 3:00 and the school bell ring!

“Woohoo!!” Mia yelled, as she jumped up and down the hallway ready to get home and get ready for Halloween!

“OOOMMPPHH! OH NO!” Mia trips and her locket goes flying! The locket hit the floor and, wait a minute...

“My locket! It opened, oh my goodness! My mom said this never opened!" Mia said.

Mia ran over quickly to pick the locket up, there is a note inside.

Mia takes the note out and unfolds it, “Old high school baseball diamond, under the first base.”

Mia proceeds to walk outside to see his her mother is here to pick her up yet.

“Well, mom's not here yet. The old high school baseball diamond hasn't been used in years and is completely overgrown, but it's only a block away... I could probably run to the old high school’s baseball diamond, look under the first base and see if there is anything there.” Mia says to herself.

Mia decided to run as fast as she can to the baseball diamond at the old high school, she ran and ran as fast as she could, and finally, she made it.

“Okay, first base... Oh wow, it looks like a total mess over here!” Said Mia.

Mia proceeded to walk through the overgrowth in the baseball diamond until she got to the first base, she lifted the base up.

Underneath the first base is a mysterious black notebook.

“Oh cool!” Mia said!

Mia stuffed the black notebook and ran, ran, ran as fast as she could back to her school making it back just in time her mother was arriving to pick her up.

“Mommy, mommy, mommy!!!” mia yelled as she opened the door and got in the car. “Yes dear, did you have a good day?” Mother asked.

“Yes, mom! You won't believe what happened, I dropped the locket and it popped open!” Mia frantically explained.

Her mom excitedly responded, “oh wow! Was there anything inside?”

“Yes mom, a note it said to go to the old high school and look under first base! So I ran over after school and looked and I found this Black notebook!” Mia said.

For a brief moment, there was a silence in the car, Mia heard her mother sniffle and saw a tear run down her cheek.

“Is everything okay mommy?” Mia asked hesitantly.

Mother smiles, “yes, your dad asked me to watch the sunset with him and that's where we were standing was at the old high school baseball diamond at the first base, anything in the notebook?”

“I didn't look yet, I will when we get home!” Mia said.

Mia and her mother finally got home, Mia runs up to her bedroom to look in the notebook and get ready for trick or treating!

Mia and her mother sit in her bedroom and open the black notebook, there was only one note and it said,

“You found this when you needed me most:

There are two locations you have to go to.

In the township park, there is a square rock under the willow tree nearest to the pond, look under it.

Next, on top of the hill next to the Ice Cream Shop, bring a shovel!”

Mother commented, “Okay Mia, do you want to go on an adventure? Go ahead and get your costume on and we will see what the surprise is!”

Mia was super excited to get in her witch costume! She hurried and got her costume on and finished trying her shoes as she decided to pull her diary about to write about her day so far.

“Dear diary,

Short entry! Today was awesome, my mom's locket she gave me this morning she said never opened! Well, I opened it, there was a note inside which I followed the directions and found this black notebook.

My mom seems particularly excited to see what's on top of this hill.

My mom was throwing shovels in the car as I was getting ready, I'm all set!

I'm grateful to see my mom so happy!”

Mia ran downstairs to show her mom her costume!

Once at the bottom of the steps she yells, “MOM! Come look!”

Her mom hurried around the corner, “oh wow, Mia you look so beautiful in your Witch costume!”

“Yep! Just call me Mystical Mia” Mia said with confidence.

“Okay Mystical Mia, are you ready to go trick or treating, and on the way, we will stop at the locations from the notebook since it's on the way of our route!” Mother said.

“Okay, mom! Let's go!” Mia excitedly said.

Mia and her mother hurried out of the house and down the street.

“TRICK OR TREAT,” Mia says repeatedly as she goes house to house getting lots of yummy treats!

Mia and her mother finally get to the Township park and go straight to the willow tree by the pond just like the notebook said.

Once they get to the pond they only see one lone standing willow tree under the twilight sky. Mia and her mother run over to the tree to find the square rock and see what's underneath!

They keep looking and looking and finally, they see a perfectly shaped square rock just like the clue in the notebook said.

“Oh wow, mom! Let's see what's underneath this rock!”

Mia and her mother lift the rock, and underneath this rock, they find a key.

“Hmm, I wanted what this key could be for,” mother asked.

Mia responded, “Well mom, let's keep trick or treating so we can make it to the top of the hill by the ice cream shop!”

So, Mia and her mother go on their way.

“TRICK OR TREAT!” Mia says repeatedly again as she goes house to house getting more tasty treats!

Mia and her mother are getting closer and closer to the hill, and as their excitement gets more intense they can feel that this is going to be an awesome surprise.

“Mom, I was to just see what's on top of the hill?” mia said.

“Are you sure honey? You can go to a few more houses” mother said.

Mia shook her head and said, “I know what's on top of that hill is more important than getting 3 more pieces of candy.”

Mia and her mother ran up to the hill next to the ice cream shop.

As they reach the top of the hill they are huffing and puffing from running up the hill. They both take a moment to admire the full moon and the beauty of the clear night as her mother got mini shovels out of her tote bag.

Mia and her mother wasted no time to dig, they dug, and dug, and dug and dug... And them... They hit something!

“What is this?!” Mia asked.

“Let's finish digging it out and we and take it home and we can open it there,” mother said with excitement.

So mia and her mother finished digging around this mysterious object and finally dug enough dirt out to find this box!

Mia and her mother lifted the box out of the hole and started going back home as they carry the box together.

“Thank goodness they were generous enough to leave this not too far from the house,” Mia said jokingly.

Mia and her mother got back to their home and carried the box up the steps and inside their living room.

“Get the key! Get the key, get the key!” Mia yelled almost jumping out of her mystical boots!

Her mother frantically got the key and inserted the key in the lock and unlocked the box.

Before opening the box Mia and her mother look at each other.

Mia and her mother both put their hands on the box and open the box together.

“Oh my gosh...” mother said.

OHHHHHH MY GOSH!!” mia emphasized.

“This...this is a lot of money..” her mother says.

Her mother started to count the money, it took her almost 2 hours!

“$20,000...” mother said while she burst out in tears of happiness and relief.

She adds, “This has been one magical adventure with you my mystical Mia, a miracle happened tonight!”

Mia smiled and went over to hug her mother, “I love you so much, mom!”

It was 9 at night, close to Mia’s bedtime so she kisses her mom good night and goes upstairs to her bedroom.

“Dear diary,

I'm so happy with how tonight ended.

I miss my dad but today he showed me he's still with me, and I got my wish, I just wanted my mom to be happy and today I haven't seen her this happy in forever.

Mystical Mia did her job in this magical adventure!
