When I think about my dad, my heart feels heavy but also warm. Heavy because he is no longer here with us. Warm because of all the love and memories he left behind.

My dad was not famous. He was not rich. He did not wear a superhero cape. But to me, he was a real hero—my hero.

Why He Was My Hero

Heroes are people who make life better for others. Some heroes fight battles. Some heroes save lives in hospitals. Some heroes build amazing things. But my dad’s heroism was simple and close to home.

He could fix anything in our house. When the light stopped working, he fixed it. When the chair broke, he repaired it. When the roof leaked, he climbed up, no matter how hot or cold it was.

He worked hard to make sure we had food on the table. Even when he was tired, he kept going.

Most of all, he gave us love every single day. He told us stories. He listened to our problems. He made us laugh when we were sad.

To me, that is what makes someone a hero. A hero does not need superpowers. A hero is someone who shows up, who helps, who loves.

The Hardest Day

My dad passed away during the COVID season. It was the hardest time of my life. I remember the day clearly. The world outside was already scary—so many people were sick, so many families were worried. And then it happened to us.

He became ill, and the sickness took him away too quickly. One moment, I thought he would come home again. The next, I realized I would never hear his voice in the same way again.

Losing him felt like losing the light in my house. Everything became dark and quiet. I cried a lot. I still cry sometimes.

What I Miss About Him

I miss many things about my dad:

🛠️ I miss the way he could fix anything, no matter how broken it seemed.

❤️ I miss his hugs that made me feel safe.

😂 I miss his jokes that made everyone laugh, even when times were hard.

🌅 I miss sitting with him in the evening, just talking about life.

When something breaks in the house now, I sometimes wait, expecting him to come and fix it. But then I remember—he is not here anymore. That thought makes me so sad.

What He Taught Me

Even though he is gone, my dad left me with lessons that will stay forever.

Work hard. He showed me that nothing comes easy, but if you keep trying, you can solve problems.

Be kind. He never shouted at us without reason. He treated people with respect.

Love your family. No matter how tired he was, he always made time for us.

Never give up. When something broke, he never said, “It cannot be fixed.” He always found a way.

These lessons are like invisible tools he put in my hands. Now, even without him, I can use them every day.

My Dad’s Love

Some people say that when someone dies, their love disappears too. I don’t believe that. My dad’s love is still here. I feel it when I remember his smile. I feel it when I try to do something he taught me. I feel it when I help my family, the way he helped us.

Love does not die. It stays in our hearts, even if the person is gone.

A Letter to My Dad

Sometimes I imagine writing a letter to my dad. If I could, it would say:

“Dear Dad,

I miss you every day. I miss your hands that fixed everything. I miss your laughter. I miss your hugs. Life is harder without you, but I promise to be strong. You always told me to never give up, so I won’t.

I want you to know: you will always be my hero. I will carry your love in my heart forever. I love you, Dad.”

Finding Strength

It is not easy to live without someone you love so much. Some days, the sadness feels too heavy. But when I feel weak, I remember how strong my dad was. He faced problems without fear. He worked hard without complaining.

When I think of him, I try to be strong too. I try to help my family, like he helped us. I try to stay hopeful, like he always told me.

Carrying His Legacy

People say that when we remember someone and live by their lessons, they never truly leave us. That is how I carry my dad’s legacy.

  • When I fix something small, I think of him.
  • When I study hard, I know he would be proud.
  • When I show kindness to my family, I feel his spirit beside me.
  • He is not here in body, but he lives through my actions.
  • For Anyone Who Misses Someone

If you have also lost someone you love, you know how painful it is. But remember: sadness means that love was real. And love is the greatest gift we can receive.

Cry if you need to. Remember them. Talk about them. Keep their memory alive. That way, they never truly leave.

My dad was not just a man. He was my guide, my protector, my teacher, my friend, and my hero. COVID took him away from us too soon, but it cannot take away what he gave me: his love, his lessons, and his strength.

Dad, if you can hear me, know this: I will always love you. You are my hero, today and forever.
