My Best EmPAWee

Kaetaff

By Dorothy AdamsPublished 4 years ago 3 min read
Golden Eyes Heart Retriever Pitbull Kaetaff

Kaetaff was named after the dog in one of my all-time favorite movies "The Ten Commandments" by Cecil B. DeMille. According to the movie script Moses had two dogs named Kataf and Turfa and although that was the spelling they had I wanted to spell it differently.

He works hard keeping our yard free from vermin. He calls himself "protecting" us. So, I guess you would say he is our security guard. Although when strangers come his bark sounds fierce yet all the while he is hiding behind mommy. He even protects us from the ferocious water bugs that causes the head manager to scream bloody murder.

He lifts the mood at our office by doing silly things to make us all laugh. He makes a nest on the bed by moving covers and pillows around with his nose as if he were moving dirt. Then for some strange reason he always covers just his nose. I guess the room spray that we find so fragrant is not to his liking.

When he was a small puppy I had to go to another location for my office so I would take him to a sitter. There was another dog there. A much smaller black and white Pomeranian named Barrett. Barrett was small but he was the king of his castle. Kaetaff was always polite to other dogs and was content to let Barrett have the run of things. He would happily share the food. He would eat exactly half of the bowl and no more. Once Kaetaff got older and no longer needed a sitter and wasn't even around the other dog, and even still to this day, he only eats exactly half of the bowl of food. Now later in the day, when he has determined that no other dog was going to eat the other half, he would go back and eat the rest.

He was friends with the next-door neighbor's Dogo Argentino named Chico. Chico was a bit older than Kaetaff and seemed to take him under his wing and teach him the ropes. It wasn't until the neighbor got a female dog named Face (named for her two-toned face) that things got a little contentious between them. Apparently, this office romance caused some drama with Kaetaff's trainer Chico. Face seemed to be more attracted to Kaetaff than Chico. I caught them kissing once through the fence with all kinds of tongue action going on. Then, one day they both happened to be out front but instead of playing together like they had done all of Kaetaff's life they went into a physical altercation. Since Kaetaff was much younger it would be said that he came out the victor in that altercation, although no blood was drawn and there wasn't any kind of TKO, but never the less Chico went back to his home office with a bruised ego.

Kaetaff is also the company physical trainer. Playing tug of war with us gives us quite the work out. He is as strong physically as he is in heart. You get a great running work out as well if you try to play fetch with him. His idea of fetch is you throw the ball for him then you must chase him for it or when he is unable to find it, which hilariously, is often then you have to walk the distance you threw the ball to go get it yourself.

He is the company counselor, who like any great psychiatrist can help you work out your problems without a word. His sweet kind-hearted spirit and compassionate expressions can make even the roughest days melt away like magic.

I would like to nominate my emPAWee Kaetaff for emPAWee of the month because of his skills and because he puts all of his heart and soul into his work. All of these amazing characteristics and skills makes him the greatest employee and friend I have ever had.
