Mother: Sword & Shield

Mother Dearest,

By Marco Quijano Published 5 years ago 3 min read

Mother may I? Mother may I tell you that whenever my Monday mornings were less than your smile would always shine through and remind me that you are greater than any of the woes in my life. Mother I have watched your life resemble that of amusement parks, ups and downs through sunny shine smiles and foggy little frowns but somehow you would always find your way back to ground level. Life is a journey and I'm just walking along a prosperous path, if not for your life lessons that you taught in my days this day would never come to pass. Fragmented memories of my youth stored away in the cabinets of my mind. From time to time I revisit the cultivated days of my youth, my innocence, infancy, my childhood, adolescence my truth.

Mother how you shape me so, from an ounce of clay to marble stone. Words I offer thee to let my gratitude for you be known. Mother the weight of the world you carry on your back like Atlas and do it again every sunrise with a fiery passion. Even when you want to cry, you fight the urge that lives inside you mask the pain away so I don't wonder why. I see glimpses of sorrow filled eyes but you remain headstrong, you truly are one of a kind. Your example I will follow until the end of time. Mom you hold a plethora of occupations my favorite one for you is my mother. The missing piece of the puzzle when I'm feeling puzzled, it was you with words at the ready to bed rest my troubles sound asleep. But mother your growing older so why is it that your heart remains so young and your soul so Evergreen?

Mom is a three letter word of sweet symphony unknown to the brand new life being born. But it is until we grow older do we begin to comprehend that the female soldier tasked with helping us grow belongs only to us and all the sudden the word mom holds much more significance. A mother of four, a woman whose soul soars and extends to reaches above an individual who encompasses everything good in this world and so much more. Mother you would often refer to me as your quiet child, the one who never spoke but I found my voice in the books I'm writing and thanking you later on in life for the books I wrote. I found my calling, I found myself through stumbling and falling.

A couple bumps and bruises but nothing major your the reason behind my tamed behavior. You gave life to a life that attempts to incorporate as much as he can in his writing for the better of humanity through his writing. I remember the family computer sitting in your room and I would print you out poems of what my soul exuded. I remember a printed poem that lay at the head of my folder so that all the world's eyes could see, a sea of tears is all I could see. As they read my words aloud in their minds, I could see the teary eyed beginning to form in their eyes reading portions of my life right before mine. I wrote about my love, my love for life and everyone who is responsible for this warmth that has has settled in my heart and will continue to do so for eons to come all because of you.

Everyday should be Mother's Day all the words in the world cannot illustrate, cannot begin to say how much of a hero you are each and every single day. To whom these words reach no reach in all the four corners of Earth could hope to reach higher than a mother's helping hand. All around the world doing all they can to keep their humble abode afloat. To my mom and to all the sister's in arms your hardwork does not go unnoticed or unappreciated, however it does go unmatched. No mere mortal can do what you Earthly goddesses do on a daily basis with elegance and poise whether you know it or not you don't have a choice. Mothers are the swords and shields in our lives who help comfort and protect us during the day and fend off our nightmares at night. Our own personal guardian knights, beacons of light, therefore making mother's all around the globe the most important ladies in our lives and the strongest on our teams.
