July 20,1969

D o you know where you were when they landing on the moon July 20, 196 9. I was in the arms of my mother being rocked after taking a bottle. I was only 6 weeks old at the time but I would the story of the time.

The chair was a special one because all the babies that were on my mother side of the family were rocked in it. I was my turned to rocked in that chair.

As my mother rocked me in that chair she was watching history being made. She must have been a happy time for her. She watch President said that a man would make it to the moon and back and come back safety to Earth by the end of decade. These words were coming true in front of her eyes. It was amazing time to see this done.

She rocked me so gently in that rocking chair. I could feel that special was happening that night.

The pictures would be in black and white and not the best to see but she was glued to that television at that time. The words live from the moon flashed across the screen that screen.

She had giving birth only 6 weeks before this special time. She was enjoying this with her newborn. She felt like her and me were the only ones in the world that could this happening as she watch.

Every so slowly she rocked me in the rocking chair not to miss a thing. Whispers in my ears as she would tell me in years to come. How proud she felt to be a American.

See at the time when the man stepped on the moon we were at war. She was thinking and wondering if the soldiers were able to see what man could do. Did the war end stop for this event in time. She believed that it did.

In years to come in my education I would learn about this event. 50 years later I would be watching this piece of history with my son in his early 20. I rocked myself in that same chair and could felt the magic of the night. I could feel the soul of my mother and proud that she felt that night. I was proud to be a American as I was transported to that young mother rocking her child in that rocking chair.

Since I was just baby when this happen. I got to read this my history books in school. I would see the television films over and over in school also.

I was just reading in the newspaper this morning that the second man orbited the earth. WOW!!! The first man just celebrated the 60 years to due a orbited around the earth. These men were are start of making it to the moon.

See what President spoke about in the early 60's was going to come true. I would be the baby in the rocking chair that night.

Now there is talking about USA go back to the moon. I wonder if it will done before the end of decade just like it done over 50 years ago just like that president said that we can do this.

We spend a lot time thinking and making rockets and sending up. Maybe I will be the one rocking my grandchild that same rocking chair that I now have in my house.

I hope that my grandchild has this chance to this done when I gone also. We never know when and where we will go back to the moon.
