How to Safely Enjoy Walt Disney World Upon Reopening
By Noemily Wynn

Like many people, you may be excited to find out that Disney World has been cleared to reopen after being closed for almost four months due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. While we’re all excited to get back to normal life, it’s important to make some adjustments in order to stay safe. Not to worry though, you can still enjoy quality family time in the parks and have fun while following safety guidelines.
Stay home if you feel unwell
One of the most important things to remember is to stay home if you’re feeling unwell. If you’re symptomatic it is very easy to spread the virus and infect people. With a highly-populated area like Disney World, where people are going to naturally be close together, it’s important to look past the excitement of a planned trip and reschedule if there’s a chance you might be sick.
Always wear masks
According to the Disney World website, Face coverings are required in all parks for anyone over the age of two. Masks have been shown to reduce the spread of COVID-19 so this is one of the best ways to enjoy your time with your family while keeping everyone safe. For tips on mask-wearing, as well as how to safely put on and remove a mask, see the Safety Guidelines below.
Stop to wash hands regularly
Washing your hands in warm water with soap for at least 20 seconds is the most effective way to remove the virus from your hands. Because you’re going to be in high traffic areas touching surfaces that other people have touched, it’s important to wash your hands regularly.
Have hand sanitizer available
Because it’s not always possible to constantly be washing your hands, it’s important to carry hand sanitizer to use regularly to disinfect your hands. Since trips to Disney World can be busy and lines for the restroom tend to be long, carry a hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol as a second-best option after hand washing. Use your hand sanitizer regularly, especially right after touching high touch surfaces.
Practice social distancing when waiting in lines
While waiting in line for rides, we’re used to being crowded together in close proximity to other people. But in order to prevent the spread of the virus, it’s best to practice staying a safe distance from people when possible. A minimum of six feet between your party and anyone else is your best bet.
Disney World memories are the long-lasting memories we all love to create. After several months of not being able to visit our favorite parks, it can be tempting to run out and immediately jump back into Disney World trips. And while you can definitely start to enjoy time at the parks with your family again, it’s important to have fun while following safety guidelines.
