How to choose between overtime and family?

My grandfather is critically ill and on his deathbed, but the leader still arranges for me to work overtime on Saturdays and Sundays. What should I do?

I don't really want to answer this question head-on. Let's talk about how some units have gone crazy in response to the inspection team.

A few years ago, the company's leadership changed. After the new leader took office, he began to conduct research in various third level units. At that time, I was also just a secretary, and most units didn't know me very well.

This form of research is usually notified in advance to the third level units, and the issuance process is scheduled to allow them to prepare in advance.

The leaders first visited a grassroots unit under the third level unit, then visited a key customer, and upon returning, listened to work reports within the third level unit.

All the previous steps were quite smooth until the halfway point of the meeting when the leader sent me a WeChat message asking me to go to the car to help him get the quick fix. He felt a bit uncomfortable with his heart (at that time, I had just worked as a secretary for him, but I didn't know he had a bad heart, otherwise I would have brought the medicine with me).

To be honest, I was in a hurry at the time and hurriedly went downstairs to collect medication for the leader. However, when I returned, I didn't bother waiting for the elevator and decided to take the stairs to make it faster, as the floor was not high either.

But when I came out of the stairwell and was about to turn into the hallway, I found a gatekeeper who wouldn't let me in.

I'm in a hurry, tell the other party, don't stop me, I need to go to the meeting room. The other party said, 'No, the entire corridor is strictly prohibited, and you are not allowed to enter.'. I was wondering at the time why the ban was imposed?

I told the other party that I came out of the conference room, and they may not believe what I'm saying because they see me as young (there are elderly leaders in that room). Tell me: Brother, don't make it difficult for me to do well. Why is it strictly prohibited? Don't you know? Put it in there for you. If something happens, I can't take responsibility for it.

Later, I said that I was the secretary of the XX leader and showed him the information in the employee app (internal software) before finally letting me in.

Afterwards, I remembered that there was a colleague from that unit who joined with me. I asked him, 'Is your unit as good as it? The leadership only conducts research, but is it like facing a big enemy?'? Okay, there's a doorman on that floor in the conference room?

He told me, you don't know, we have an employee who loves to report problems. He wrote letters before, but later whenever a leader came, he came to the scene to report problems. He was afraid of our leader (the person in charge of the third level unit), so he was particularly cautious this time.

I guess it's because of your face, I mistook you for him as their relative. It's said that once his son also reported a problem with his father.

Am I asking him the question? Are there any grievances or intentional disturbances? My colleague won't tell me anymore.

However, I estimate there must be some issues with this.

See, this is the weight of the inspection team in the minds of the leaders. You think it's an ordinary investigation, but the leaders are extremely important. Set it as a red alert and make sure to eliminate all potential troubles in the cradle.

So, in the eyes of the leaders, your grandfather's critical illness may only be a small interlude in the entire process of dealing with the examination team. Your grandfather's life is very important to you, but it is far less important than the results of the leader's examination. So they cannot empathize with you, let alone understand the meaning of your grandfather to you, even if they all have a grandfather.

Really, if he insists on not letting you go back to see your grandfather, and you don't want to work in such an inhumane enterprise in the future, then you will be exposed and denounced in front of the inspection team.

Anyway, your leader wouldn't have expected you to do this because you are usually very honest, listen to everything, and do everything, which is why he looks down on you so much.
