How Many People Work From Home

And Actually Make extra Cash

Busy Mother

The world we live in is changing. Many people prefer to work from for various reasons and it's easy to understand why. A busy mother with her child can work her own hours around the baby. A student who needs extra cash needs to work around his or her lessons. Even the office worker who had an accident and is now disabled, but is still capable of working from a computer but cannot travel out. All of these situations are coming up now which is why so many want to and need to work from home.

How? What can we do -- from home -- to get that extra little money which we all need?

1. Freelancing => has become quite popular, once you know what your skill is. This is essentially offering your 'skills' and 'services' to clients on a project-by-project basis. The beauty of Freelancing is that there are countless opportunities for many different skills and 'expertise'. A writer, graphic designer, programmer, marketer, as well as many other skills, can connect to clients via platforms such a Fiverr and Upwork, Vocal and Medium, etc.

Think about what skills or talents you have -- can you go Freelancing?

2. Becoming a Virtual Assistant => this is a new one on me. The demand for Virtual Assistants is on the rise as more and more businesses are choosing to outsource administrative tasks to remote (or home) workers. This work can include managing emails, scheduling appointments, data entry, social media management, and many other 'tasks'.

The beauty of this way of working is that you can work for several clients at the same time, as long as you have a computer or laptop and internet, (which most people do have now).

3. Online Tutoring or Coaching => have you always wanted to teach but you are too nervous to teach in a literal classroom? What about this? So many are doing this kind of teaching, online, and are making some good money from it. There is a very high demand for this kind of tutoring or coaching because many parents want extra tutoring for their children, or students need extra help for their college degree. It might even be an older person who just wants to fill their days with learning. Again, online and through social media platforms is a good way to offer this kind of 'schooling'. Just a thought, qualifications are a big thing in the schooling world, so research first if you actually 'need' that qualification.

Just be sensible about it, teach a subject you actually 'know' about!

4. Selling Products Online => many of us know this. Selling through such platforms as Ebay and Amazon, or even designing your own website and selling through that, have been a great boost to supplement many peoples income. Again, there are so many platforms you can do this through, and I would recommend research first before 'jumping in'. What have you got in your house that you just don't use or need anymore?

Some have managed to make this their full-time job, but be warned, it takes a lot of work before anything pays off.

5. Online Surveys => now these do make money, not a great deal, but if you are prepared to take time, every day, to answer (what some would consider boring) questions, you can make a 'penny or two'. They can be fun and interesting but it does depend on what you are personally prepared to do. Some may not be able to go out to work, they have the time, so why not answer a few survey questions every day?

They are worth a try.

6. Rent Out Space on Airbnb => again, this is a new one for me but Airbnb is advertised a lot now and (I believe) make money.

What is Airbnb? If you have an extra room in your house or flat that is not being used (for anything), you can rent it out on Airbnb and make money. If you live in a tourist destination, near or in a city, this is a good idea for that extra cash. But do your research first and make sure that you are prepared for 'strangers' (who are only friends we haven't met yet), walking through your home.

Well, here are 6 ideas that you and I can do to work from home. Many people are doing them and many people are making good money from them. Each one of them requires discipline and self-motivation. However, with the right skills, determination and planning, these 'talents' can become a full-time job, working in the comfort of our own homes, around the hours we need to be with our families, if we are disabled, or a student who just needs that extra cash. The opportunities are out there, we just need to 'want' to research, plan and do them.

Happy working from home!
