How many??!!

Getting my daughter caught up on vaccines

By Skyler ArnoldPublished 5 years ago 2 min read

Mini me and I drove to the doctor today so she could get caught up on her shots and get her 4 year well check-up done and the overall experience was fantastic!

Although, now I am a worried mother with high anxiety about a bunch of different scenarios that are literally 1 in a million. No joke, I did the research.

Walking into the doctors front room, there was a 50 gallon fish tank with different kinds of little fish and legos for the castle. The receptionist was very welcoming and sweet and directed us to the play room down the hall. Most offices I have been to have the normal playroom with the regular toys and books. Not this one. This playroom was huge, with a little tykes roller coaster, a pretty big playskool playhouse WITH a slide, a reading table and a bunch of Dr. Seuss quotes painted on the walls. We then were escorted just a short walk down the hall, into the examination room with a life size wooden block shaped like a lego person and another shaped like a dolphin. The nurse came in and was so respectful towards my daughter and acted like she was the most important person there. After she was done with vitals, she came back with a popsicle for my daughter and we were given the remote to watch Netflix or Disney+.

You're probably wondering about how expensive this place is. They accept medicaid so I don't really know. The doctor put a lot of planning and personal effort into creating his office. I was very, very impressed and left happier than when I entered.

It is now 930PM where I'm at and there have not been major signs of reaction. She has choked on her spit a lot today but she also woke up with a cough that went away within an hour. I blame it on the weather change. Anyway, I took her temperature before bed and gave her a re-hydration drink that is lemonade flavored. She is so tired but still has a lot of energy while fighting to stay awake. I only started to worry because of the amount of vaccines and boosters she got today. I swear the nurse listed off about 4-5 different ones in a single needle. That sparked some anxiety. But after reading up on the vaccines of today, I am more at ease and even though I'm more at ease, my motherly intuition is still gonna wake my ass up every hour to make sure she is still breathing.
