As it was, it is.

As it was - The widow was gathering sticks to make a final meal for herself and her son before they died from the famine. Elijah requested a drink of water and a small bread cake. The widow told him of her plans to make a final meal for herself and her son - that she only had enough meal and oil for one last final meal. Elijah insisted on his small cake and then she could make the meal for herself and her son. She did as Elijah instructed. His timing is perfect.

It is - It was approximately 6:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 27, 2002. Pat sat down at the kitchen table and turned on the family computer. Mandie, Pat’s daughter, was standing at the Kitchen sink. His timing is perfect.

Pat collapsed to the floor, unconscious. Mandie heard the thud, called out and then went to her mother. No response. Mandie dialed 911. The ambulance was on its way, it was nearby, empty, returning from another call. His timing is perfect.

Mandie interrupted her fifteen year old brother Matt’s morning routine, explained things, and gave him the phone connected to 911. Matt kept 911 informed of his mother’s condition. Mandie then attended to her thirteen month old daughter, Julia and grabbed her cell phone. The ambulance arrived at 6:36 a.m. Pat became conscience long enough to tell the ambulance personnel she wanted Lourdes hospital. His timing is perfect.

Mandie called her father, Mike. Mike was not at his desk, rather he was working in the field today. Mandie called her Aunt Carol, Pat’s sister, explained things and told her which hospital. Carol was home because she was recently laid off from her job. His timing is perfect.

Beside the house phone’s charging station was a recently placed phone number list. Mandie called the home of Mike’s co-worker Bob. Bob’s normal routine was to the gym, then to work. Today, Bob had to return home after the gym to get something he forgot. His timing is perfect.

When Bob answered the phone, Mandie explained the need for her father. Bob assured her he would find Mike. Mike rarely retrieved the mobile phone from the main field trailer, but today he did. His timing is perfect.

It was almost 7 a.m. as Mike was approaching the hospital. He had to pull over to allow an ambulance to pass. Mike thought to himself, “That’s Pat.” His timing is perfect.

The ambulance EMT’s, nurses, and a doctor were placing Pat into a bed within the emergency room as Mike walked up to the room explaining who he was. Carol walked in just as the doctor was asking Mike about Pat’s childhood medical issues. When the doctor needed more information on exactly what initially happened at home Mandie, Julia, and Matt walked in. His timing is perfect.

Pat was in and out of consciousness. The doctor ordered a CAT scan. Pat’s family was moved into a private waiting room. They masked their fear with small talk and Julia watching. The doctor returned and asked to speak to Mike alone. Pat had three brain aneurysms, the largest had burst. If she lives, she will probably be in a coma or persistent vegetative state for a long time. If she lives, normal will be something different. Mike talked with his family. Julia did something cute, everyone laughed. His timing is perfect.

In a neighboring city, at a university hospital, a new medical process was available for treating Pat’s condition. The world renowned doctor was on staff and could accept one more patient. His timing is perfect.

It was Saturday, April 10, 2004; a beautiful spring day. Carol wouldn’t be over today. She had been called back to work last month and had to work most Saturdays. Although Carol had enjoyed the time she was able to spend with Pat over the last two years, she was happy to be back to work. Mandie and Julia were out shopping for new Easter dresses. Matt was flipping burgers at the nearby fast food restaurant. Pat and Mike held hands, they walked around the neighborhood, talked to each other and neighbors. Dan, who lived across the street, asked Pat where her cane was. His timing is perfect.
