When couples get married, they promise to stay with each other for many years, have several children, a dog, a cat, and a nice big house with a white picket fence. The idea of going their separate ways, parting ways, or even divorcing ...... Sorry!!! , you haven't even thought about it.

The truth about marriage is that it's not always as perfect or exciting as you might think. Marriage has its problems, just like the rest of us. The struggles that married couples endure in life can make or break a relationship, but the problems of divorce can be stopped and overcome.

Often, the challenges couples face in life can teach them about themselves or each other and make them better, stronger, more enlightened people. A troubled marriage and divorce are one of the challenges couples can face in their relationship. Despite the couple's catastrophic and unexpected misfortune, a marriage workshop can save them from marital troubles. Divorce - some couples don't even see it coming - until it's too late, it slaps them squarely in the face, and by then they're out of shock and their blurred vision becomes clear - -they've lost everything, the kids, the dog, the cat, the big house, the white picket fence and the salt rubbed deep into the wound as they follow the alimony check.

Marital problems usually start with a little misunderstanding between the couple and then develop into a screaming match. Unimportant arguments, vicious fights, doors slammed, plates and glasses thrown across the room or against the wall, furniture smashed, clothes thrown in the street, one partner ignoring the other, angry, disgusted and hurt. This can develop into extreme hatred with the opportunity to turn into sweet revenge. Ultimately, the situation can lead to a costly divorce. Divorce or separation can be avoided if couples remain alert to problems in their marriage and take immediate action to correct them.

Attending a marriage seminar can be a good decision for couples to help them identify problems in their marriage and overcome them before they worsen. During a marriage seminar, couples are asked to explain their problems individually. The counselor may encourage couples to be honest with each other about whatever is going on, even if they start jumping around in frustration, arguing, expressing anger, or extreme hatred. Each spouse is advised to settle down, remain calm and listen to each other's opinions and ideas without any rude interruptions, shouting, or offensive language. Each person is given enough time to explain themselves and talk about their feelings. In this part of the workshop, couples share their problems and should be honest and from the heart.

Once couples' issues are out in the open, they are encouraged to deal with them and move on. Couples face their fears, share with the group, and speak about their problems and pain to resolve them. Workshops can take several weeks to complete. Marriage workshops are not a one-day cure for marital troubles. Let's get real here, the workshop will be completed when the last partner or couple is well and ready to finish, and not before. Time, understanding, and patience are essential qualities needed by both the troubled couple and the counselor.

Sometimes couples are irresponsible and lazy and make up pathetic excuses as to why they can't attend a marriage workshop. Skipping sessions may discourage couples from trying to save their marriage.
