After a hearty breakfast, we set out for Balu Ka Ghera, a journey that takes approximately 5-6 hours. The path unfolds through vibrant meadows and rocky terrains, offering panoramic views of the Dhauladhar Ranges. The trek is a feast for the eyes, with lush green valleys and colourful wildflowers enhancing the landscape. Balu Ka Ghera, named for the brown bears that hibernate here, serves as our campsite for the night. As you settle in, you’ll be treated to breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks, making the day’s trek truly rewarding.
Day 3: Balu Ka Ghera to Hampta Pass and Return
Today’s trek is the most challenging and exhilarating of the journey. We start early, aiming to reach the Manali Hampta Pass by midday. The trek involves a sharp ascent from Balu Ka Ghera to the pass, where we’re greeted by a dramatic change in scenery. From lush meadows, the landscape transitions to barren lands with majestic mountain views. The summit, standing at 14,100 feet, offers some of the most spectacular panoramic vistas of the Himalayan peaks, including Indrasan Peak. After savouring the views and exploring the pass, we descend to Balu Ka Ghera, with a brief stop at Hampta village along the way.
Day 4: Balu Ka Ghera to Manali via Jobra
Our final day is spent retracing our steps from Balu Ka Ghera back to Jobra. The descent is a reflective journey, allowing you to relive the beauty of the trail as we make our way back. From Jobra, a private vehicle will take us back to Manali, where we conclude our trek. The return journey is a fitting end to our adventure, wrapping up a memorable exploration of the Hampta Pass in Manali.
