NOT SO UNCOMMON but heart-rending and sometimes debilitating if not a life risk, are family arguments, especially those that flare into a family feud. Otherwise labeled DYSFUNCTIONAL, families that struggle within itself, against itself can never gain peace within until members are willing to forgive and or forget each other's transgression and trespasses. One person has to be the "bigger man" which the connotation of the word is enough to draw new heated arguments.

Misdeeds and thievery of items and documents precious to one family member or group considering himself/themselves to have assaulted because of that act; fan the flames of the situation. He was"raped" of his potential... his birthright... his possessions. Actions become so embroiled that knives are drawn at one another with sincere intent of causing damage to vendicate true or imagined insult to personal space. Unwarranted molestation by a family member that goes unresolved in a peaceful manner can result in death of the one causing the assault. What to do when a simple "no" or "stop" does ot work? The definition and charges concerning underaged persons... the crime, as defined by the federal courts, pertain to sexual acts with children up to the age of 18, including touching of private parts, exposure of genitalia, taking of pornographic pictures, rape, inducement of sexual acts with the molester or with other children, and variations of these acts by pedophiles. But WHAT IF the "child" is the assaultant? What is a family member to do when a younger relative is the guilty party? "Can't keep johnny from sliding under my bed and fondling me in my sleep? I wake up and my clothes are disheveled!" What then?

The issue of having one's personal space invaded... a night intruder fondling sexual organs as they sleep... molestation and rape, tends to be swept under a rug to "keep the dignity of family" out of the streets. It is one of the more difficult issues to be forgiven and one more prone to getting one killed for the repeated assault taken. The rationale for conducting such henious act is broad and usually an individual mentality defect where the definition of DYSFUNCTIONAL derives. How do you know if someone has a dysfunctional personality? According to PSYCHOLOGY TODAY , "...the term personality is a complicated one. A useful working definition of personality is “the organized, developing, psychological systems within an individual.” Resolving the onset of the original problem within one or many individuals may take time to reach the source of an issue and to extinguish the negative traits or attitudes. Here is one path to cleaning away the damage done. It should be addressed long before taking rash procedures of tossing out a defending element or parties in the family or household, and before feuding individuals take up weapons of death.
