Every Child Deserves a Parent, but not Every Parent Deserves a Child

A discussion on why fostering is important

Every child deserves a parent, but not every parent deserves a child is a saying that I've heard before, and I want to discuss it in a bit more detail. Personally, I do agree with this statement. Let's just say I've been around a parent that does not deserve a child.

I think that this deserves some conversation though. Of course, every child definitely deserves a parent, but why wouldn't every parent deserve a child?

There are tons of reasons why a parent wouldn't deserve a child, let's be honest, I can't even list them all if I tried. Although I might as well list at least a few reasons.

Feel free to leave your insane parent stories in the comments.

When a parent thinks that a child is property, the child doesn't get to be prepared for the real world, where they have a lot more freedom than they were raised to expect.

When a parent hits their children for little to no reason, there is the occasional justification to hit your child, but it's rather rare.

There's also the mental abuse that has been proven to be just as harmful to children, but seeing as the foster system is so full, it isn't enough to take a child out of said home.

These children are in painful situations that they can't get away from because of the stupid system in place. The US government needs to focus more on the people than it does all the war stuff it funds.

I think that we need more people who can foster children, so less children have to suffer with their unfortunate circumstances. We need more people to donate time and money to these children, we need more people willing to help those that are less likely to be fostered and or adopted.

We also need more people who foster for the right reasons, instead of just because they get a monthly paycheck to take care of the child. Although those that do it for the money don't usually take care of the child very well.

These children deserve homes, families, people who care about them. So, if you have the means, please consider donating either time, money, or even fostering. We should be more worried about the things that children are forced to suffer through.

The foster care system is over-run so much so that many children are forced to stay with abusive parents because they "aren't that bad", or they "haven't done enough".

This is something that I am very passionate about, so I'm planning on fostering several sets of children, especially the ones that are less likely to be adopted.

I think that everyone should care more about the children in foster care, and children in general, even if you don't plan on having kids yourself. We should want the future to be better than the present. The best way to achieve that is give opportunities to the children who will run our future.

I believe in a lot of things, if you want to hear more about what I think, feel free to subscribe. And feel free to leave comments stating all your opinions as well, I'd be happy to read them.
