Mini Summer Bucket List for 2025

It's June! Finally some good weather is coming our way. It's been so hot outside where I am that the kids and I have already set up our slip and slide once so far this year. I'm excited to make this summer memorable for my family. Last year I created a boredom jar of activities for us to do. I have been brainstorming activities again and I wanted to share some of my ideas for summer fun this year!

I was heartbroken when I realized there were really no great summer camps in the area for both the two older kids, so I figured we would make some of our own summer magic for the kids.

    1. Camping 2025- we did not go camping last year as we just did not have the time. This year I want to make time to take the kids in a camper to a lake far away from our hometown and make some memories. We spent a week out at a lake about 30 minutes from where we live and we had such a memorable time. I want to do that again.
    2. Water balloon fights- we did this so often last year that I have to include this again. We had an absolute blast during the summer last year having a water balloon fight with our neighbours. I want to do that again.
    3. One last lake trip- my grandpa is selling the beloved family cabin. We are spending one more summer out there before he sells it. I'm a little sad about that, however I understand why. The work that needs to be done to it isn't worth it for our family. We just don't have the time to maintain it.
    4. Host a Backyard BBQ for our friends and family- I love to cook. I have never hosted a BBQ before and I would like to try my hand at feeding 20+ people from my own kitchen.
    5. Lemonade Stand- My children have already asked if we could do this one and we just haven't had the time yet, but I figure I'll buy the stuff and hide it away for a nice day when we are all home.
    6. Finally join the local library's book club- I have been meaning to do this one for a year but I have had such rank anxiety about going and the books I like to read are- well- not meant for everyone to put it politely. But I need something for me besides working.
    7. Have a picnic at the park- Sometimes the smallest things mean the most. My daughter loves picnic lunches. We have a spray park in town with a beautiful view. I'd love to pack the kids up for the day and just spend quality time at the park. Simple, affordable, and free besides groceries we already have.
    8. Movie Night- I took three laundry baskets last week, and put pillows and blankets in them for all three kids. We watched the new Minecraft movie and the kids had so much fun with the laundry basket idea. We had dill pickle popcorn, small bags of chips and lemonade too. Way cheaper than attending the theater and most definitely small child friendly. I would do this again hands down.
    9. Anna and Elsa vists- I did this last year too and I want to do it again. I froze toys in a bowl of water overnight and told the kids in the morning that Anna and Elsa from Frozen came to visit us last night. In order for them to get their toys, they had to use sand toys and warm water to melt the ice. It was fun and a time consuming activity that yet again was free.
    10. And lastly, for myself as goal that I want to achieve, I want to finish at least one book every week during the summer. I need to chop some books off my TBR list that continues to grow every week.

I hope you guys enjoyed my bucket list for Summer 2025! It's kind of a mix of personal goals for myself and for my little famjam. I'm excited to spend some time in the sun with my three favourite people in the entire world. I love finding screen-free activities for our family so if you have any suggestions for me please let me know in the comments down below!

Summer plans sound great! Camping and water balloon fights are always fun. Hosting a BBQ will be a challenge, but lemonade stand and book club sound cool.
