Behind Every Strong Woman There's a Good Man

You know that classic story, behind every successful man is a good woman. Well in my case behind every Strong Woman is a Good Man. In this case it's my father, he's my rock and I go for additional support. Every girl needs that man that shows her how a man is supposed to treat a woman. Growing up I was extremely sensitive, I was hurt easily by others actions and it really took a toll on me. I was lucky, I had an amazing father with a heart of gold. When I was hurt or upset he knew what to say or to do to make the hurtful words or actions of others go away.

He was not only my rock and shoulder to cry on. He also led by example, my father worked 16-17 hour days and never complained. He would come home exhausted from work, but still ask how school went and how my sports were going. He had always made myself and my health a priority. I understand the blessing that it is to have a father figure such as him. When I could see other fathers, not often could we see them acting like my father had.

I grew up in a musical family, and was inspired to also become musical. It felt like a passion rather than a requirement. I played the saxophone, drums, sang and loved to write songs. I always felt like deep within my soul, music could say the words or express emotions that I often had a hard time to express. It was also the one thing that kept me and him in our special bond, having the time with him to sing and to enjoy those moments. The kind that made your heart do butterflies and feel warm in your chest. These were the moments that I have hung onto with him for the past 34 years.

He is also the kind of father that is there when the times are not all sunshine and rainbows.....you know when the storm is crashing on you hard. I try to put up my wall to protect him and make sure that he is okay, and not stressed out by me. But he already knows what is going on. He will call and say "What's going on", it's that bond between the father and daughter that will never go away. The unspeakable connection that no distance, time or anything can ever take aways from us.

I will be struggling silently and he will know the words, next action or guide me through what I need to do next. He sets a plan of action to take and knows how to execute it. And it works successfully every time. For all the daughter's reading this, if you don't have a father figure like this. I pray you find a husband, boyfriend or friend who will be like this for you. This type of support and guidance will be life changing and I hope everyone finds it. He is a Cancer if anyone is wondering that. Just needed to add that part.

He will also know what is weighing on my mind, whether someone in my life should be cut off, know if I need a certain item, and more. He's more than a father, he is confident, my friend and my family. He taught me the value of hard-work, the value of character, to never go outside of my morals and beliefs, and that no matter what, don't give up. That quitting and regret is way worse than the short term pain of success. He also taught me to look at the moral of the story, and to be spiritual and follow my heart and feelings.

So behind every Strong Independent Woman is not only herself. In my case it was a good man who had my back, enforced my character, intelligence, inspired my greatness, and mindfulness. So Dad, from the very bottom of my heart "Thank you". Thank you for being the light & voice of wisdom that's led me on this incredible journey that is my life.
