Anatomically Correct Dolls

What is an anatomically correct doll? It is a doll that realistically simulates the sex attributes of a human. These dolls can be utilized for various functions as described below.

Some moms and dads like their kids' baby dolls to represent their child's gender realistically with all the parts. After all, if a doll is supposed to represent us and all of us have these parts, shouldn't every part be represented? Also, some kids do discover their absence when presented with a new doll and are confused by the lack of representation. Anatomical dolls are also utilized to assist children of another gender to show the differences between young boys and girls.

When parents start potty training their children, as kids tend to imitate what they see, it can be hard to demonstrate what they are trying to achieve without some show and tell. While some parents are not comfortable with this approach they will simply implement an anatomically correct doll instead. There are even some dolls that will "drink" and you have to immediately place them on the toilet to "pee".

They can also be used in discussions including the meaning of good touch and bad touch. Children are the most vulnerable to child sexual abuse between the ages of seven and thirteen, though there are predators who target victims as early as birth. Because of this, the best time to talk to your children about good and bad touch is as soon as they are capable of understanding your meaning.

Then there are the Reborners, these are artists that take already existing dolls and transform them to be even more realistic.

Reborners will typically use vinyl or silicone baby dolls to create these masterpieces but technically any doll can be reborn, not just baby dolls.

Lastly, occasionally anatomically correct dolls are used in questioning children who may have been sexually abused, they can help to assist children in relaying areas touched that are not on themselves to police and therapists.

Whenever the moms and dads feel comfortable with it I would say!

By the age of 3 years old, kids can determine if a person is a young boy or girl. however, they do not understand at this point in time that gender can not be altered.

By age five children now comprehend women and men grow up to be moms and dads, however, they still do not understand this can not be changed.

Gender constancy-- that is the understanding that being male or female is a fixed individual characteristic-- does not develop entirely up until around the age of six or seven.

As a play therapy tool, the dolls might help heal a child who needs to begin to resolve a few of the concerns related to child sexual assault. When approaching concerns surrounding child abuse they reveal distinct benefits, there have actually been case research studies of children who have elected to play with the dolls.

Dolls in general are a non-threatening toy and children are familiar with them, they typically use them spontaneously to act out feelings.
