10 Things First Time Mothers want to Put on their Registry

Here is a list of things that I was so happy to have on my registry and all of the things that I wish I did have.

Being pregnant is enough for a woman to deal with if we are being honest. During those nine months, our bodies harmones are changing and soon enough our entire life will change. On top of that, during those nine months most women will have to plan a gender reveal and a baby shower. All while that is going on, we also have to put together a registry.

As a first time mom, I had no idea what to really add to my registry. I mean ofcourse I knew the basics such as diapers and wipes and clothes and a crib and a stroller and a car seat…but beyond that? I mean, I was lost. There were so many things I had on my registry that people said I did not need and that worried me. It made me feel like I had no clue what was going on.. so below.. you will find a list of things that may help you through your pregnancy journey.

1. Diapers!

Okay yes, we all know that you add diapers but HONESTLY! YOU NEVER HAVE ENOUGH DIAPERS!!!! The amount of money that I have spent on diapers is insane. It feels like a never ending sinkhole in your wallet honestly. My advice with this is to not get TOO MANY new born or 1 diapers but to aim more towards sizes 2-5. Ofcourse you need all sizes (which I didn’t even think about when first adding diapers to my registry) but my daughter stayed in those sizes the longest.

So accept AS MANY DIAPERS AS YOU CAN! Next time I am pregnant, I will find a way to STOCK UP ON DIAPERS LIKE CRAZY.

2. WIRELESS breast pump!

If you are breast feeding, this is a must!!! I was able to breast feed while folding clothes, doing work and even taking short naps. It was sooooo convienent and I was so thankful that I added it to my registry. If you are choosing to breast feed, just know that it is a time consuming thing so being comfortable while doing so makes the process that much easier on you.

3. BEDTIME lotion and bubble bath

My daughter has been alert and active since she left the womb. However, one thing I noticed is that BEDTIME products make a HUGE difference in your night time routine. After every bath with using these products, there is a CLEAR difference in her behavior and energy.

4. Swaddling Blankets

The science behind swaddling is INSANE! Swaddling saved me space for the LITTLE bit of sleep that I was able to get. I even invested in a few thicker blankets to swaddle her in. Also, remember that texture is everything. The same way you love to be under a blanket that makes you feel good, your baby will feel the same.

5. BABY TYLENOL!!!!

Okay it may sound silly BUT once the teething process starts, you will thank me! My baby started teething extremely early and whenever it started, her mood CHANGED dramatically. She could not sleep and cried through the night. I was unclear as to what was going on until I realized what it might be and by then every store was closed. If I would have even had ONE bottle of baby Tylenol ready, it would have helped A LOT!!! It also helps them fall asleep because of the comfort so that’s a plus.

6. Baby Lounger Sleeping Nest

Okay so ofcourse I had two cribs (one stationary and the other portable) but in the beginning she refused to sleep ANYWHERE but under me. My fear was not only that she would roll out but that I would roll over her. My sleeping next saved me so much worry because I would put it by the wall and it taught her that she did not have to be RIGHT UNDER ME to be comfortable. It made transitioning her much easier and the wall of the nest stopped me from rolling over.

7. Shopping Cart Cover

Okay so it sounds silly once again because it’s not an immediate need but before I even blinked twice my baby was sitting up and big enough to sit in a shopping cart. With the climate of the world dealing with a never ending pandemic, the shopping cart cover has came sooooo in handy. Not only is it cleaner for both the baby and you but it also has different departments. Mine has a phone holder so that the baby can watch tv; a bottle holder whether it be for formula or juice; it’s own strap and places for you to attach rattles and toys to. This shopping cart cover makes shopping trips so much easier you wouldn’t even believe it. On top of all of that, it also allows them a warm comfy space to be in.

8. Breast Milk Storage Bags

A friend of mine introduced me to this. I assumed I would breastfeed and then feed her right away but once I found out about these… omg… This made it to where I could breast feed allllll day in my free time and store the milk. Therefor, there were other days where I could pump and dump or have milk ready if for some reason my milk was on the lesser side. With these bags I stored up a month worth of breast milk on average.

9. Baby Carrier

This is something you see men wearing often in movies but after buying one in real life, I was so thankful! I wore my baby EVERYWHERE! I went to the store wearing her. I went on walks wearing her. I mean I took her everywhere and she would just be sleep. The one I had, had a cover for her head if the sun was out and puches all over for wallets, keys and whatever else. Also, the one I had a hard spot at the bottom that held her butt like a seat. Not to mention, it was oddly comfortable for me as well.

10. Cloth Books

I was not sold on cloth books at first because whenever I was a child all I could remember was hard books. I wanted my daughter to have the same but she loves cloth books. She usually plays with them first and they can’t easily be torn or ruined so by time she is done playing, her energy is worn out and she is ready for me to read for her.
