Why India needs more sincere students !

A deep crisis can emerge amidst the global pandemic

India, with its rich cultural heritage and welcoming nature has always been the centre stage when someone looks up the definition of democracy. The constitution of the country has given way to accommodate the humanitarian needs and rights of the citizens and make it a secular nation in it own way. However when one sees the country and reads about the different versions of the democratic nuances, it can be easily found that the country is not what it looks like.

Beneath all these secular portrayal and cosmopolitan cities lies the hatred rooted against each other, owing to the division basis religion, castes and regions. These barriers have often been exploited by the politicians and businessmen to benefit from the divide. It is also true that while India has the largest youth population among all the nations, no one can deny the fact that the youth can be provoked time to time to give fuel to interests for creating unrest using violence.

It all started with the tabling of CAB(Citizenship Amendment Bill) in the parliament, leading to thoughtful debates in the country. While the CAB intended to give citizenship to people who have shifted to India due to religious persecution in neighbouring countries of Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan, it left out the consideration of Muslims, raising a matter of concern for those who belonged to the community and have migrated from these countries in the recent times. Central government had a propaganda here to please those 19 lakh immigrants from the neighboring countries. The bill was passed unanimously but when the implementation was on the cards, people took it to streets in the capital and other prominent cities to protest agains the Act. This not only gave opposition a moment to spill ink on the ruling party, but also gave a lot of celebrities a chance to mark their presence and increase their followers. Notorious politicians took the opportunity to get students, namely those of Jamia Milia Islamia and Jawahar Lal Nehru University on the roads of the capital and resort to violence and harm the public assets. Police took action against them which sparked a fury across the whole nation. One thing was very clear here that there were miscreants involved- politicians, goons, rowdy students of Jamia who provoked the police to take action and create news of prominence. The event did not become just an incident but was planned carefully to create the news for media channels and politicians against the CAA and consequently the government. What we don't understand is that what kind of students involve in violence, damaging public property on a big scale and expect the policemen to just watch them do that. What type of students enter the campus masking their faces and hide in libraries ! None of the educational institutes was involved unless this happened. Because we have diligent students who are focused to impact the nation with their academics rather than with their opinions and protests. To everyone's surprise, many celebrities found this a great opportunity to gain popularity among the young population. Swara Bhaskar, Deepika Padukone, Sushant Singh and many others sympathised with the students, all nothing but a dramatic way to reach to the masses what they couldn't do with their performances. But to their surprise, the nation was divided on the lines of enactment of this Act. Many intellectuals even supported the Act, citing it a reason to gift citizenship to all those who don't have a legal right to live in India and that many countries have resorted to acts like these in the past to remove illegal population.

After this incident, a place became popular in the capital namely Shaheen Bagh. A site for protests, which was barricaded by the police forces, became the hotspot for all action related to anti-CAA campaign. While the Home Minister urged the students' fraternity to come to his office and discuss the Act in detail, there were many who joined the protests without even knowing what CAA meant and how it could affect them. The educated Liberals took advantage here. Gradually people across the nation began to understand that students related to political parties took this golden moment to become the next Hardik Patel or Kanhaiya Kumar. Division of the country had begun and the youth were on the forefront to unite or divide the nation basis their understanding and beliefs about the political situation in the country. While the initiation was done by BJP, the torch has been carried forward by the Congressmen and its allies. The political propaganda had paved way for every person who wished to get fame. The question is: Do we really need students who are political peregrinated and can be provoked by anything that is of least concern to them ? Do we really need universities like JNU and JMU which have produced more radicals who have disturbed the political integrity of the nation in the recent past? Do we need students who support Afzal Guru ? Who is fostering such kind of hatred rather than a truly liberal and progressive thought in these students ? Doesn't the politicians have a better way to handle students and to make people understand about the things they wish to implement?

It's really great to have a young population, but what can be a disaster more than having majorly foolish youth. These young people can be provoked to do any kind of job, the extreme of which can be to join terrorist cells. These don't have any shame or respect for the nation. They are only concerned about their fame, fake concern about the nation and nothing else. One such case is of Kunal Kamra, not a well known standup comedian who was recently in news for heckling Arnab Goswami, another opinionated talent of suppressive nature. While it is really good to have debates over the crisis situation, I believe it's completely inappropriate to ask someone during travel and hurl abuses on the person if he/she wished to ignore the matter. What Kunal Kamra did was really shameful and was retaliated by airlines in terms of ban on his travel. Kamra has shown that he can stoop to any level to showcase his pseudo liberal thoughts, which in turn are nothing but an attempt to gain more fame which he couldn't through his shows. He even shows middle finger and hurls abuses on the PM and his initiatives. And still he calls India a fascist nation. Another case is Sharjeel Imam, an IITian who is a true genius and a perfect example of another oppressed engineer who has the potential of becoming a sharp terrorist. He has been fighting Islamophobia and has been leading the protests against CAA at Shaheen Bagh. His inflammatory speech related to blockade of Assam from India made him land in jail. While Sharjeel is a real gem, his political alignment has been notorious in the recent past. He is representative of the Indian muslims who turn to violence and extremist measures because of being oppressed. Even Sharjeel's family is not aware of his work.

My question is very simple. What does Sharjeel or Kunal represent ? An attempt to achieve fame through hatred ? Do they have a real zeal to transform anything ? The answer is a big NO ! People like Kunal and Sharjeel are just epitomes of a population filled with deep hatred and ready to alienate people politically, mostly the foolish and not the intellectuals. They may have become a sensation by speaking out their filthy mindset against the integrity of the nation but they have forgotten that a majority of the population supports peace among the communities. The reason why Kanhaiya Kumar did not win a Lok Sabha seat in 2019 is a sheer example of why people really don't wish to have messengers of hatred in the parliament which is already full of dacoits, fake intellectuals and illiterates.

A country can be transformed by its students but only when a good number of well informed and highly educated talent takes part in the process. Not by the foolish youth who are promoted by opposition parties just to fulfil their interests of inciting unrest in the nation, creating problems for the incumbent government to function. Not many of the students studying in IITs, NITs, AIIMs, and other top notch universities can be found in these protests as they are mostly concerned about the change they can create through applying their minds on economic perspectives rather than provoking unrest in the nation and causing damage to public property. We must promote the spirit of such students, who are not famous and also do not wish to become so, by just throwing out hateful speeches but by building up the economic wheels of the nation. Students are representative of the nation's future and Sharjeel is really not one of them. India has always got better and the most brilliant of students. Use of democracy for demanding better resources and opportunities and a better economic and financial scenario is always the virtue of being free and has been promoted constructively by all governments. Spitting hatred is not !
