What is the Best Way to Edge a Paver Patio?
Patio flooring has a timeless look that complements most decor.

Patio flooring has a timeless look that complements most of the decor. They have also found several applications in both residential and commercial design areas. When it comes to patio pavers installation, there are endless option that you can choose from.
While bricks have long been a popular choice for walls and exteriors, brick pavers for interior floors are developing as an intriguing trend. Brick pavers are an even better option, giving the space a rustic appearance, when paired with sleek, modern fixtures and accent items.
Just as a fine picture frame can elevate a piece of art, so too can framing your paver patio provide a stunning visual impact. But, considering patio edge ideas is somehow difficult because they will prolong the life of your surfaces in addition to their visual appeal.
Why is it so important to edge a patio properly?
Patios, walks, and roadways made of paver pavement are laid in an interlocking design. Excavating must be done first, followed by the proper addition and leveling of stone and/or sand, and lastly the placement of pavers on top. Polymeric sand and other joint materials are swept into paver joints to lock them together.
But if you were to move toward the boundaries of these surfaces, it would be quite simple to move the pavers there if there was no way to stop them from moving horizontally.
Best Ideas to Edge a Paver Patio
Plastic Edge Restraint:
One of the more popular edge constraint techniques for paver landscaping design is plastic edging.
You can find plastic edging close to a big box store or a beautifully groomed yard. The brand SEK Surebond Snap-Edge® Edge Restraint is the one we prefer to use. Like all other types of plastic edging, it is constructed entirely of recycled plastic and is intended to be used with 10" corrosive spikes that will rust and expand in the gravel.
Trowel-finished concrete:
A concrete troweled edge is a more conventional type of edge constraint for paving stones.
The advantage of doing a concrete troweled edge is that bagged concrete is readily available at almost every building supply store, and the installation requirements are straightforward.
All you have to do is scrape off the bedding material and trowel the concrete directly on top of the gravel. You want to make a 45-degree slant and place the concrete halfway up the paver.

Concrete Bond Beam:
The purpose of bond beam is to create a little curb underneath the border of your paving stones. The advantage is that the edge of your paving stones is more visible, and there is much more space for landscape material if necessary.
Troweled concrete edge:
While troweled concrete edge restraint has long been a popular method for paving stones, a modified concrete approach is worth examining today.
A modified concrete edge restraint differs from a traditional one in that it has chemical air treatments to make it more permeable; it has non-porous aggregates that are less susceptible to freeze-thaw cycles; and it has fibers that combine everything into a nice, tight system.
Concrete Curb:
The optimum type of edge restraint for base concrete pavers is a poured edge border curve.
This choice is large, deep, heavy, and robust, thus it is only suitable for a vehicular driveway. If you're thinking about installing a concrete curb in your driveway, keep in mind that it's a labor-intensive and tool-specific job that you can accomplish yourself if you have the necessary tools.
