What If You Have Already Met A Time Traveler
Time travel

Do you recall how Stephen Hawking famously stated that the most compelling evidence against the possibility of time travel is the absence of hordes of tourists from the future invading our present time? But what if these tourists actually visit us covertly? It's even possible that you may have encountered one without realizing it. Let's explore some of the most renowned time travelers.
Allow me to introduce Orin, a cyborg who arrived in our time from the year 2050 with a mission to prevent the impending doomsday in 2020. He gained attention when he appeared on a television show, asserting that the entire world existed within a simulated reality called the Matrix. This led to media headlines and an interview on a popular YouTube channel. To demonstrate his cyborg nature, he showcased a robotic voice that could be replicated using a simple computer program. Interestingly, Orin referred to himself as "we," claiming to be a collective consciousness that had arrived to save humanity. Although Orin became renowned for his predictions about the near future, it later surfaced that many experts had already made these forecasts. He also alleged the existence of a powerful corporation suppressing humanity, portraying our reality as a complex computer simulation. While Orin no longer appears on major shows, he maintains a small fan base intrigued by various fantastical theories.
Another notable time traveler is Adam Archen, who traveled from 2045. In an interview on YouTube, he shared details about the future of the United States, causing the video to go viral and make headlines in numerous newspapers. Archen predicted that the final official president of the country would be the daughter of Martin Luther King III, who would become the most significant U.S. president in history. Another fascinating event he mentioned was the disclosure of extraterrestrial civilizations in 2028. Archen clarified that these beings would not originate from outer space. Additionally, he stated that the world would transition to a unified digital currency, rendering physical cash obsolete. Although his claims were met with skepticism, he underwent a lie detector test, which he successfully passed. Archen asserted that he possessed a time travel facilitator chip implanted in his hand. According to him, an extraterrestrial civilization would arrive on Earth in 2028, and by 2045, humans would be closer to resembling robots. While the lie detector did not indicate deception, it's important to note that the device can be circumvented through specialized training. In any case, we'll find out in 2028 if Archen's predictions hold true.
All these time travelers arrive in the past for some reason but refrain from utilizing their future knowledge. If you had the opportunity to travel back 50 years, what would you do? Perhaps you'd invest in the stocks of a budding company destined to become a highly valuable corporation. In that scenario, people would readily believe that you genuinely hailed from the past. Interestingly, someone actually accomplished this feat. Andrew Carlson invested $800 in the stock market and turned it into $350 million. Unfortunately, his newfound wealth didn't bring lasting enjoyment as the FBI intervened. Andrew sold some stocks and purchased others, remarkably multiplying his wealth within a few months.
The Securities Commission found such outcomes too improbable, prompting them to involve the FBI. During the interrogation, everyone anticipated Andrew would attribute his success to luck. To their surprise, he calmly stated that he arrived from the year 2256 using a time machine. Naturally, nobody took this claim seriously. The FBI conducted a thorough investigation but found no records or information about Andrew Carlson. He seemed to have materialized out of thin air, accumulating vast wealth. Despite a four-hour interrogation, Andrew remained composed, appearing as though he genuinely spoke the truth. However, he withheld the location of the time machine. When news outlets discovered this enigmatic figure, Andrew swiftly became a celebrity. Prominent news websites from Japan, Australia, Germany, the UK, and other countries published articles about him. Journalists bombarded the FBI with inquiries, seeking more details. However, the FBI declared the entire story to be fiction, asserting that Andrew Carlson did not exist. The information attributed to him on internet platforms was labeled as fake news. This story about the time traveler gained unexpected popularity when it went viral on Yahoo. As we can see, all accounts of time travelers either stem from fiction or falsehoods. These discussions about time travel largely emerge from the influence of popular culture, including movies and books featuring fantastic concepts. While some individuals believe in the possibility of time travel, particularly those distanced from scientific understanding, let's explore what real scientists have to say on the matter.
According to scientists, time travel is indeed possible, considering that we are constantly moving through time. As time progresses, we journey alongside it. However, traveling to the future or past presents far greater complexity. Einstein's theory of relativity helps us understand this better. It suggests that time is relative to the observer and lacks a constant value. To illustrate, consider the following analogy: Is having ten hairs on your head a significant number or a minuscule amount? Likewise, are ten hairs in a bowl of soup considered numerous or few? The perception of quantity depends on the context and conditions.
The same principle applies to time and space. If we approach speeds nearing that of light, time slows down for us. The experience of time differs between a person in motion and one at rest. Similarly, when near a massive object, let's say something a thousand times more massive than the sun, time slows down due to the object's intense gravitational pull. Therefore, in this sense, time travel becomes possible. Imagine meeting a friend from fifty years ago while you have aged. They might appear young because they've been traveling at tremendous speeds through space. However, it doesn't mean they simply remained stationary on a spaceship for fifty years without aging. Time moved differently for them. While ten years on Earth feels significant, it may pass like a mere half-hour for the traveling friend. The interplay between gravity and speed warps time. An astronaut named Scott Kelly spent a year and a half in orbit, and upon returning to Earth, he was five milliseconds younger than his twin brother due to the effects of traveling at high speeds and being farther from the gravitational center of the planet. Time, objectively, maintains a consistent pace, but its perceived speed alters based on varying conditions and observers. This concept lies at the core of the theory of relativity.
But what about the ability to jump into the future or the past, akin to what we see in movies? This is where wormholes come into play. These hypothetical tunnels traverse both space and time, connecting different segments across the universe. They could be considered as cheat codes that defy the laws of the universe. However, wormholes remain elusive, existing solely in theory and science fiction. To date, scientists have not observed or detected any actual wormholes in our universe.
That concludes our exploration for today. If your curiosity has been satiated, please consider liking.
