What do I expect from my college?

As I'm now entering a new phase of life I had to review my expectations and hence I did.

As I stand on the brink of a new phase in my life, the uncertainty and novelty of this phase known to us as the make or break phase circles and generates excitement around my little 17 year old brain. I am eager and frightened at the same time to move away from home alone and live with a bunch of kids who may be better at things than me, who might not welcome me or who might compete with me. I have high hopes and expectations from college but will they get fulfilled? We must wait for that, till then we could talk in depth about my expectations from college life.

I won't dive into making friends and socializing immediately, even though we both want to, but let's save that for later in this post. First, I have academic expectations such as receiving quality education from highly qualified and practical teachers. In high school, I strove for academic excellence while developing a strong foundation in various subjects. As I transition to college, I expect to encounter a broader range of subjects that will challenge me intellectually and expand my knowledge. I aim to enhance my intellectual capabilities through debates, discussions, and competitions among students. Therefore, I want my college to offer these opportunities. Besides that, I'm already excited to study unfamiliar yet fascinating subjects.

Now, let me discuss the intriguing aspects, specifically social and personal development. To be honest, I'm not very sociable. While some people might assume I struggle to converse with others, the truth is I can communicate but simply choose not to exert effort in that area. However, I now aim to change that slightly. My goal is to expand my circle of friends—not significantly, just a bit—as I wish to acquaint myself with people's stories, visit places together, have fun during classes, and genuinely enjoy their company. Also I wanna make friendships which would be everlasting as well as beautiful.

When it comes to personal development, college is often referred to as a time when students can develop their independence, strengthen their decision-making skills, and discover their passions. As such, I have high expectations for personal growth during my time at university. Iam a bit frightened of what all is going to happen when I've got to manage almost everything on my own such as time and my budget, But the only advice I give to myself is that we learn from our mistakes and so even if I somehow make a mistake i'll try to learn from them and if that doesn't work my mother is just a call away and she will aid me in sorting things out, after I say this to myself I feel loads better.

Lastly, one cannot overlook the importance of career preparation in college life. My expectation is to gain professional experience through internships or co-operative learning programs where I can apply classroom learning in a real-world setting. I also want to be a bit frank with my professors, I mean frank about the subject and about the things we learn in class and through practical experiments. I also expect my seniors to guide us newbies through this phase as well as they can.

In the end all i would say is, as I embark on this exciting journey, I am eager to learn, grow and develop into a well-rounded individual who can contribute positively to society. While there may be challenges along the way, I'm confident that god would be with me in every step of the way as he stood by me throughout my school life and my college experience will exceed my expectations and become a rewarding phase of my life which i could cherish throughout my life.
