Vigilante, Hero or Real Villain?
His name is Kim Ji Yong (Nam Joo Hyuk), a police student who is an example and is trusted by the lecturers on his campus. But he experienced a dark childhood. There is a flashback that will show the life of little Kim Ji Yong. He saw his mother beaten to death by a thug. What's worse, the thug only got a sentence of 3.5 years in prison. How annoyed little Kim Ji Yong was with the injustice he received, Kim Ji Yong kept that hatred until he was an adult.
Instead of repenting, the thugs just got worse. Thinks that people who bully him need to be taught a lesson, no matter if he is seen by many people or the person becomes helpless because he was beaten by him.
When Kim Ji Young saw that at the weekend, her blood automatically rose again and her emotions welled up. His hatred peaked and he continued to follow the thug, until he reached a narrow alley. It was there that the thug started to find out who was following him. Which ultimately made Kim Ji Young seek justice for herself.
"Thank you for not changing," said Kim Ji Young to her mother's killer.
The justice she obtained without legal assistance made Kim Ji Young take action again. He helps people who do not get justice like himself, and provides punishment to criminals. Every weekend he carries out revenge and from Monday to Friday, he is an exemplary police student.
Two thumbs up to Nam Joo Hyuk, who dared to step out of his comfortable character in Korean dramas. In the Korean drama Vigilante, Nam Joo Hyuk successfully played the character Kim Ji Yong, where his emotions had to be managed well. Because he has to face his lecturers, face his friends, and on the other hand, he becomes wanted by the police themselves.
Will the Vigilante Arrest be Successful?
The murder committed by Kim Ji Yong at the weekend, made news journalist Choi Mi Ryeo (Kim So Jin) nickname him Vigilante. He succeeded in making the nickname viral, and continues to hunt down who the Vigilante really is. He wants to catch and look for exclusive news that is broadcast first. Even though his superior reprimanded him, he didn't care about the important news he had to get. Choi Mi Ryeo looked for a pattern, but instead another Vigilante appeared.
Kim Ji Yong, who knew he was being duplicated, then chased whoever dared to imitate his actions. It turns out that he who imitated what Vigilante did, was actually a supporter of Vigilante. He is also a figure who continues to help behind the scenes, how the CCTV cameras can never target the Vigilante.
Because the local police could not arrest Vigilante, their own investigation team was formed from the central police. Yoo Ji Tae will play as Jo Heon, the leader of the Metropolitan Investigation Unit specifically to catch Vigilantes. What ends up being that the two of them find out from each other that it is not only criminals who commit crimes, but there are also police who collaborate with criminals and enrich themselves with money and positions.
So in the end, can this Vigilante figure be called a hero or a villain? From a legal perspective, of course he is a criminal, but from the perspective of many victims who don't get justice, can he be called a hero?
