Lessons Learned Beyond the Classroom

Unlocking Success

Foreign school offers numerous benefits such as making friends, having fun, and even memorizing the quadratic formula. However, it often fails to prepare us for the challenges of the real world. We encounter situations where we must manage finances, deal with annoying managers, and figure out our life's purpose. Through my podcast interviews with highly successful individuals, ranging from academics to multi-millionaire entrepreneurs, YouTubers, and life coaches, I've discovered valuable lessons that I wish were taught in school. In this blog post, we will delve into seven of my personal favorites.

Lesson number one stems from Tim Armu, a successful UK entrepreneur who sold his first company for tens of millions of dollars at the age of 27. One notable characteristic of high performers is their bias towards action. They understand that trying multiple approaches may result in some failures, but they are not deterred by that. The school system often ingrains a risk-averse mentality due to its focus on grading and assignments. This leads to perfectionism and anxiety when rankings are involved. In the real world, success is more about taking numerous shots and continuously honing your skills.

In school, assignments come with deadlines, and there is no reward for submitting them early or completing additional work. All that matters is the final grade. However, the real world operates differently. To thrive, it is crucial to engage in a high volume of activities related to your chosen field. For example, in creative careers, acquiring numerous clients and gaining ample practice is more critical than spending excessive time perfecting one specific aspect. Successful individuals I've encountered prioritize action over overthinking. They spend less time contemplating and more time doing.

Over the past six years of growing my YouTube channel, I've learned that action forms the foundation of success, while overthinking can be added on top. In my Part-Time YouTuber Academy, I often remind my students that they are allowed to contemplate their niche, strategy, or other aspects as long as they are taking consistent action. Waiting to have everything figured out before starting will hinder progress. Remember, it is easier to steer a moving ship than a stationary one. If you find yourself paralyzed by overthinking, embrace a bias towards action.

As a celebration for reaching four million subscribers and to express my gratitude, we are hosting a productivity booster kit giveaway. The prize includes a range of digital and analog products that I personally use and recommend, such as an M2 Chip 13-inch MacBook Pro, AirPods Pro, books like "Atomic Habits" and "The 4-Hour Workweek," a Launch Time notebook, and more. To enter the giveaway, simply click the link in the video description and provide your email address. While the giveaway is open to participants worldwide, please note that there may be limitations on shipping to certain regions due to postal constraints.

Lesson number two comes from Alex Hormozzi, an entrepreneur with a net worth exceeding $100 million. He emphasizes that investing in your own ability to make money yields significantly higher returns than any market investment. School often encourages us to view learning as a limited-time activity and separate it from our careers. However, learning is a lifelong endeavor, and the bulk of it occurs after leaving school and entering the workforce or starting a business. Continuous learning and personal growth pave the way for exponential success.

During your career journey, you must pay down your ignorance debt. This debt represents the gap between your current knowledge and the knowledge required to achieve your financial goals. The reason you may not be making millions right now is simply that you do not know how to do it. By investing in improving and expanding your skills, you gain the knowledge needed to reach new heights. Instead of solely focusing on earning potential when considering job opportunities, prioritize opportunities that offer significant learning experiences.

In this video, we've explored various ways to acquire the skills that schools often overlook. If you're searching for a platform to enhance your skills, I recommend checking out Skillshare. Skillshare is an exceptional online learning platform that offers a wide range of classes in areas such as productivity, interior design, technology, cooking, business, and much more.

I have been a teacher on Skillshare for nearly four years, sharing my knowledge on topics like productivity and effective studying techniques. As a special offer, Skillshare has created a customized productivity learning path, curated with my recommended classes, available for free. By following this learning path, you can level up your productivity skills, which will greatly benefit your chosen career.

By embracing the lessons shared in this blog post, you can bridge the gap between what school teaches and what the real world demands. Remember, continuous action, a hunger for learning, and investing in yourself are key ingredients for long-term success.
