The Weight of Your Words: Part 2
The power of your words can shape your destiny. Many people struggle, not because they lack faith or fail to pray and fast, but because their words do not align with the life they desire to build. Your words have the ability to either release or hinder God’s promises over your life. When you align your speech with God’s will, you activate His divine plans in your future.
Proverbs 12:14 reminds us, “From the fruit of their lips, people are filled with good things.” This means that your words can produce blessings, favor, and goodness. However, if your lips are filled with negativity, gossip, anger, or fear, you cannot expect to release God’s favor. The words you speak carry power in both the natural and spiritual realms. When you consistently speak life, faith, and truth over your circumstances, you invite God to move powerfully in your life.
Words are not just empty sounds; they are spiritual tools. Jesus said in Matthew 12:36-37, “For by your words, you will be justified, and by your words, you will be condemned.” This highlights the weight of our speech. Each word you utter carries spiritual significance. Whether you’re speaking about your family, your career, your health, or your future, your words create the atmosphere for what will happen.
Let me share a testimony that powerfully illustrates the impact of words. A woman whose husband was a wealthy and influential figure came to me in distress. Her marriage was crumbling, and the Lord revealed to me that her husband was secretly involved with another woman and had a child with her. Naturally, she was devastated, but I told her to remain calm, refrain from speaking negative words, and to maintain a quiet and gentle spirit, even though the situation was difficult.
She listened to the advice. She didn’t argue with her husband or speak harshly. Instead, she kept her peace and trusted God. Despite her pain, she controlled her tongue and refused to speak words of anger. Miraculously, her husband made a critical mistake in his stubbornness. He unintentionally handed her legal documents that secured her rights to all of his assets. When he passed away unexpectedly, she inherited everything. Her calm spirit, along with her refusal to engage in destructive speech, secured her future and her children’s future.
This testimony is a powerful reminder of how essential it is to control our tongues. James 1:19 gives us wise counsel: "Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to become angry." Our words have the power to shape outcomes, direct our paths, and influence the course of our lives. When we speak with wisdom and intention, we create an atmosphere where God’s blessings can flourish.
To be victorious in life, we must guard our tongues and speak words that align with God’s promises. Whether we are in moments of joy or difficulty, our speech should reflect faith, hope, and trust in God. If we allow our words to become careless, we may inadvertently block the very blessings we are seeking. But if we intentionally speak life into every situation, we can unlock God’s abundant blessings.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the precious gift of speech and the immense power that our words hold. Teach us to be mindful of every word we speak, and help us align our speech with Your will. May our words reflect Your truth, and may they be instruments of blessing, encouragement, and peace. Give us the wisdom to know when to speak and when to remain silent. Fill our hearts with Your Holy Spirit so that every word from our lips is filled with love, grace, and faith. In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.
