the Sky of His Dreams

Amar

Amar and the Sky of His Dreams"

Amar had always been a dreamer.

As a young Muslim boy growing up in a modest town, he often sat by his window at night, gazing at the vast sky above him. The twinkling stars, the moon’s soft glow, and the silent movement of airplanes across the heavens fascinated him.

His heart longed for the skies. He wanted to fly.

"Ya Allah," he whispered in the quiet of the night, "if it is good for me, let my dream come true. Make a way for me, even if I don’t see it now."

He didn’t know how or when, but deep inside, he believed. He believed that Allah always listens, always provides, and always guides.

But in the world of reality, dreams often seem impossible.

A Boy with Big Dreams

From the moment Amar saw a pilot for the first time—his crisp white uniform, the way he carried himself with confidence—he knew that was what he wanted to become.

"One day, I will fly a plane too," he had told his mother when he was only six years old.

His mother had smiled and stroked his hair. "Then make du’a, my son. If Allah wills it, He will open doors for you."

But as Amar grew older, he realized that becoming a pilot was not easy. The training was expensive, and his family did not have much money.

Some people in his town discouraged him.

"Pilot training costs a fortune, Amar. Be realistic!"

"Why don’t you choose something easier?"

"You’re smart—why not become a teacher or a doctor?"

It seemed like everyone thought his dream was impossible.

Everyone except his parents.

"If something is written for you, nothing can take it away," his father always said.

"Trust Allah, but also work hard."

And that’s exactly what Amar did.

He studied harder than anyone else in his school. Every night, under the dim glow of a cheap lamp, he read books about physics, engineering, and aviation.

He spent hours at the library, soaking up every piece of knowledge about flying.

And he prayed.

He never missed a single salah. He woke up for Tahajjud, standing in the stillness of the night, asking Allah to guide him, to help him find a way.

But sometimes, no matter how much effort we put in, things don’t happen the way we expect.

A Test of Faith

One day, a golden opportunity arrived—a prestigious scholarship for flight school!

It was a once-in-a-lifetime chance. If he won, he would receive full funding for his pilot training.

Amar’s hands trembled as he filled out the application form. He put his heart and soul into his essay, explaining why he wanted to become a pilot.

Then he waited. And waited.

Weeks passed. No news.

Then, one afternoon, an email arrived.

His heart pounded as he opened it, his hands slightly shaking.

"Dear Amar," the letter read, "we regret to inform you that you have not been selected for the scholarship this year."

His breath caught.

For a long moment, he simply stared at the screen. The words blurred.

"Not selected."

His dream was slipping away.

For the first time in years, he felt lost.

"Ya Allah," he whispered that night, his forehead pressed against the prayer mat, "I worked so hard. Maybe this dream isn’t meant for me?"

But deep in his heart, he knew: Allah never closes a door without opening another.

The Unexpected Opportunity

Days turned into weeks. Amar tried to focus on his studies, but his heart felt heavy. What would he do now?

Then one day, while at the masjid after Fajr prayer, he overheard two men talking.

“I heard there’s a new flight school program looking for young talent,” one of them said.

Amar’s ears perked up. A new program?

After the prayer, he approached them and asked for details. The men smiled.

“Yes, brother. It’s a new aviation academy offering scholarships to outstanding students—especially those who have a strong background in physics and mathematics.”

Amar’s heart raced. He had both of those skills!

That very day, he applied again.

He worked even harder, submitted a stronger essay, and continued praying.

And this time, the response was different.

"Congratulations! You have been selected for the pilot training program!"

Amar’s dream had come true.

He fell into sujood, tears streaming down his face, thanking Allah for this blessing.

Soaring to Success

Years later, as Amar sat in the cockpit of his first official flight, he looked out at the endless sky before him.

The same sky he had dreamed of as a little boy.

The same sky he had prayed under, whispering his hopes to Allah.

And now, here he was, flying among the clouds, his dream a reality.

He had learned one of the greatest lessons of life:

When Allah writes something for you, nothing and no one can take it away.

It may not happen in the way you expect. It may take time. It may require patience, effort, and trust.

But if it is meant for you, it will always find its way to you.

Because Allah’s plans are always better than our own.

And so, with a heart full of gratitude and faith, Amar soared into the sky—the sky of his dreams.

Alhamdulillah.

Moral of the Story:

Never give up on your dreams. Work hard, pray, and trust Allah’s timing.

Failure is not the end. Sometimes, rejection is a redirection to something even better.

Faith and effort go hand in hand. Make du’a, but also take action.

Allah’s plans are always better. What is meant for you will never miss you.
