The Pitfalls Of Publishing On Simily
I’m writing this hoping to save others from the same frustrations

I started publishing on Simily in February 2022, after reading rave reviews from different writers on Medium.
However, I do regret joining this writing platform, as it’s been nothing but frustration after frustration with the site.
I’ve explained my initial frustrations in this article here, so I won’t go over old ground or lament again at how foolish I was to buy an annual subscription— which is the only reason I still publish on the site.
The fragile stability of the platform is one thing but now I learn it’s costing me financially too!
I thought I’d continue to publish on Simily until my year was up, seeing as I’m writing the articles for my Medium account anyway— you’d figure that would just be passive income — right?
Not necessarily as I’m just discovering.
I don’t promote my Simily posts, since I write them for Medium and felt any income on Simily would just be a bonus. So I decided I wouldn't waste my time trying to get more readers to the poorly designed site.
I don’t even interact on the site anymore because at least once or twice a week minimum, the site breaks. You either can’t publish stories anymore or you no longer see your earnings or how well — or badly — your articles you do manage to publish, are doing.
I had heard other members complaining that they aren’t getting paid for ALL their reads but I shrugged that off. I mean really, that’s just not good business, so I gave Simily the benefit of the doubt.
But over the last few days I've discovered that I'm not being paid the promised $0.02 a read, and these other complaints may actually be true! Maybe, it's just taken me longer to realise.
I've finally realised this because, for example, I published an article on 09/08/2022, and on the same day I published it, a number of people had read and commented on it - yet surprise, surprise, here we are on 12/08/2022 and that article is still showing zero reads and therefore I'm getting zero dollars for those reads.
Another example, an article I published on 10/08/2022, I've received comments on that article on the day I published and again, I'm receiving zero reads and zero dollars for those reads.
How many reads are going unpaid that I don't know about? More people read and don't comment, so I'll never know exactly how many reads I'm not being paid for.
I think it's safe to say there are quite a few reads that I'm losing out financially.
I've noticed, since becoming a member, that the stats and earnings would usually update every 24 hours or so but my stats have remained unchanged for more than four days, although I can see from the comments that people are reading my articles. I'm just not receiving the promised payment.
This is beyond disappointing!
I've emailed Simily on three separate occasions over the last fortnight, each time because the site was broken. I rarely receive any response!
I have also emailed them about the discrepancy in my earnings, but if their track record is anything to go by, then I’m not expecting a response on this email either.
I don’t see Simily ever being a successful writing platform, I just hope they last long enough to see my year out — then I plan on hightailing it, like so many before me.

My first love is poetry — it’s like a desperate need to write, to free up space in my mind, to escape the constant noise in my head. Most of the time the poems write themselves — I’m just the conduit holding the metaphorical pen.

Thank you for writing about this platform. I haven't joined there as I haven't heard of them before.
And here I was thinking that Vocal is the worst. Simily seems like it has very poor management. I'm so sorry you subscribed to a yearly subscription. That's really frustrating. Thank you for sharing this. I will never ever consider joining Simily. I hope your issue gets sorted out soon. You poor thing 🥺
