The Mystery of Prayer and Fasting. Part#2
Those who are most powerful in their prayer lives are the ones who effectively transfer their faith into action, granting God the license to operate through them.
The Mystery of Prayer and Fasting
God cannot go beyond your level of maturity in the word.
Many Christians ask God to show up in their lives, but God's perspective is, “I want to show up inside of you.” This belief stems from the understanding that He resides within us. It’s not about what Christianity can do for you; it’s about what you do with your Christianity. What have you done with your Christianity?
The disciples witnessed Jesus performing incredible acts: walking on water, defying the viscosity and molecular density of water, raising the dead, cursing a tree until it withered, and many other miracles. Yet, despite these astonishing feats, the disciples didn’t ask Jesus to teach them how to perform these specific miracles. They realized there was something foundational that Jesus did before performing such miracles.
The secret was prayer and fasting.
In Luke 9, the disciples, descending from a mountain, encountered a demon-possessed child. The child’s father told Jesus that he had asked the disciples to cast out the demon, but they couldn't. Jesus explained why: "This kind comes out only by prayer and fasting." The disciples then asked Jesus to teach them how to pray. They knew they didn’t spend hours in prayer like Jesus did, and they recognized that prayer was the cornerstone of His ministry. Jesus' secret to a powerful ministry was His dedication to prayer.
Those who are most powerful in their prayer lives are the ones who effectively transfer their faith into action, granting God the license to operate through them. This understanding is the first stage of higher-level revelation about prayer and fasting. However, there is an even higher revelation.
Ephesians 5:30 says, "For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones." Colossians 1:27 further reveals, "To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory." Jesus is now inside us. "Christ in you, the hope of glory" uses the word "Glory," derived from the Greek word "Doxa," meaning the highest state of being like God.
If Jesus is in us, when we pray, who answers us? The answer is Jesus, and He answers from inside of us, from the inside out. The God we are praying to now lives within us.
Without knowledge of the word, our ability is limited. God cannot surpass our level of maturity in the word. Understanding this is crucial to grasping the power of prayer and the mystery behind it. The secret of effective prayer lies in understanding who we are in Christ and developing our knowledge and faith accordingly.
God cannot make a man lower than Himself. He is the King of kings and Lord of lords. Many Christians mistakenly think of faith as merely desiring something to happen. Faith is, in fact, intelligence. The Bible states that "faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." This means that the word of God within us determines the amount of faith we possess.
Faith is not a feeling or an idea. People of great faith are those who are filled with the word of God, who have read, understood, and internalized it deeply.
In conclusion, to access and sustain divine presence through prayer and fasting, one must mature in the word, understand the mystery of Christ within us, and build a solid foundation of faith rooted in the knowledge of God's word. By doing so, we align ourselves with God's presence, allowing Him to operate powerfully within and through us.
