“The King Whose Throne Touched the Heavens — The Story of Prophet Sulaiman (AS)”

The man blessed with power, wisdom, and miracles — a kingdom never seen before or after.

By Anees KhanPublished 2 months ago 4 min read

Long ago, in the golden age of prophets, there lived a man whose wisdom was unmatched and whose kingdom stretched beyond human imagination — Prophet Sulaiman (AS), the son of Prophet Dawood (AS).

He was not just a king — he was a prophet, judge, commander, and servant of Allah whose rule combined the power of heaven and earth.

---

🌙 A Gift of Wisdom from Childhood

From his early days, Sulaiman (AS) showed signs of great intelligence and divine wisdom.

Even as a child, when two men came to his father Dawood (AS) with a case about a sheep that destroyed a farmer’s crops, Sulaiman (AS), though still young, gave a judgment so fair that Allah revealed his wisdom to be superior.

Allah says in the Quran:

> “And We gave understanding of the case to Sulaiman, and to each We gave judgment and knowledge.”

(Surah Al-Anbiya — 21:79)

Thus began the story of a boy destined to become the greatest ruler ever blessed by Allah.

👑 A Kingdom Beyond Imagination

When his father passed away, Prophet Sulaiman (AS) inherited not only a vast kingdom but also divine gifts that no other man possessed.

Allah granted him control over:

1. The Wind —

He could command it to blow fast or slow, carrying him and his armies across lands in moments.

> “And to Sulaiman, We subjected the wind, blowing by his command wherever he directed.”

(Surah Sad — 38:36)

2. The Jinns —

Mighty creatures made of smokeless fire worked under his authority.

Some built palaces, others dived into the oceans for treasures, and none could disobey him.

> “And of the jinn were those who worked for him by the permission of his Lord.”

(Surah Sad — 38:37)

3. The Animals and Birds —

Prophet Sulaiman (AS) could understand and speak to them — every bird, beast, and creature of the field.

> “He said, O mankind, we have been taught the language of birds, and we have been given from all things.”

(Surah An-Naml — 27:16)

Imagine a king sitting upon a shining throne of gold, surrounded by humans, jinns, and birds, all standing in perfect discipline — obeying the command of a prophet of Allah.

Truly, it was a kingdom of both seen and unseen worlds.

🕊️ The Army of Light

Once, Prophet Sulaiman (AS) assembled his great army — humans, jinns, and birds — and they marched in rows through the valleys.

As they approached a valley of ants, the tiny queen ant said:

> “O ants, enter your homes, lest Sulaiman and his hosts crush you while they perceive not!”

(Surah An-Naml — 27:18)

Sulaiman (AS) smiled and thanked Allah:

> “My Lord, inspire me to be thankful for Your favor which You have bestowed upon me.”

(Surah An-Naml — 27:19)

Even with all his power, he remained humble — a king who bowed before the true King, Allah.

---

👑 The Story of the Queen of Sheba (Bilqis)

Among the most famous stories of Sulaiman (AS) is his meeting with Bilqis, the Queen of Sheba.

She ruled a mighty kingdom known for wealth and beauty, but her people worshiped the sun.

Sulaiman (AS), hearing about her through the Hoopoe bird (Hudhud), sent a letter inviting her to worship Allah alone.

When she received it, she was amazed:

> “Indeed, it is from Sulaiman, and indeed, it reads: In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate.”

(Surah An-Naml — 27:30)

She decided to meet this prophet-king herself.

Before she arrived, Sulaiman (AS) asked,

> “Who among you can bring me her throne before she comes?”

A powerful jinn said he could bring it in a blink of an eye —

and just like that, her throne appeared before Sulaiman (AS).

When Bilqis arrived and saw her throne already there, she said:

> “My Lord, indeed I have wronged myself, and I submit with Sulaiman to Allah, Lord of the worlds.”

(Surah An-Naml — 27:44)

Thus, a queen who once bowed to the sun became a believer in One God.

---

🕊️ A Humble King Before Allah

Even with all his power — control over wind, jinn, and nature —

Sulaiman (AS) never let pride touch his heart.

He always prayed:

> “My Lord, forgive me and grant me a kingdom such as will not belong to anyone after me. Indeed, You are the Bestower.”

(Surah Sad — 38:35)

Allah accepted his prayer —

and gave him a rule unlike any other in human history.

---

🌅 His Death — A Lesson for All

When the time came for his soul to return to Allah,

Sulaiman (AS) was standing, leaning on his staff, watching the jinns working.

Allah took his soul, and he remained standing —

no one knew he had died until a termite ate through his staff, and his body fell.

Only then did the jinn realize that they had been working, thinking he was alive.

> “And when We decreed death for him, nothing indicated to them his death except a creature of the earth eating his staff.”

(Surah Saba — 34:14)

Thus, even in death, Prophet Sulaiman (AS) taught a lesson —

that no power, no kingdom, and no army is greater than Allah.

---

🌟 Moral of the Story

> Power is nothing without humility.

Knowledge is nothing without gratitude.

And love of Allah is the true kingdom that never ends.

Sulaiman (AS) ruled the world — but he never forgot that his heart belonged to Allah alone.

His story reminds every believer that real greatness is not in thrones or crowns —

but in obedience, wisdom, and faith.
