The Fake Lives of Rappers

Unveiling the Truth Behind the Facade

By Majid khanPublished 3 years ago 3 min read

The world of rap music often presents a glamorous and extravagant image, with rappers flaunting their wealth, chains, and lifestyles. However, behind the flashy exterior lies a harsh reality. Many rappers live in a lie, perpetuating fake personas and false narratives about their lives. Despite being exposed numerous times for their deceitful practices, they continue to believe that portraying an absurdly rich and famous lifestyle is the only way to gain the adoration of their fans. Sadly, they are not entirely wrong. This article explores the moral story behind the façade of rappers' lives, shedding light on the contradictions, hypocrisies, and consequences they face.

Living in a Lie:

It's no secret that rappers often engage in a deceptive game, constructing a false reality to maintain their popularity and financial success. From fake chains to rented mansions, they go to great lengths to create an illusion of wealth and fame. The allure of rap lies in its unique ability to turn acting like you're rich into actually becoming rich. Rappers understand that if fans perceive them as wealthy, they will be rewarded with more money and adoration. Conversely, if they are seen as broke, they risk losing their fans' support.

The Hypnotic Power of Fame:

The portrayal of an extravagant lifestyle and the display of flashy chains and wads of cash hypnotize a significant number of impressionable fans. These brain-dead followers end up worshipping rappers as more than just humans, elevating them to god-like status. However, this heightened sense of reality is based on the false personas and fabricated lifestyles that rappers project to the world. They become trapped in a cycle of rewards and incentives, driven by the need to maintain the image that has brought them success.

The Fakeness of Rap:

Rappers often rap about a lifestyle they do not actually live. From the luxurious cars they don't own to the houses that are merely Airbnbs, much of what they present to the world is fake. The rap industry uniquely rewards those who can convincingly act rich, offering them more money and fame. But if fans perceive them as broke, they are unlikely to receive the same support. In this way, rappers become characters in a game, and the more their fans buy into these characters, the more financial success they achieve.

The Irony of Authenticity:

Even when rappers attain immense wealth, their personas, lifestyles, and personalities online become increasingly artificial. Their genuine selves become overshadowed by the characters they have created, blurring the lines between reality and fiction. Two prominent gangster rappers, Meek Mill and Lil Durk, exemplify this phenomenon. Despite their millionaire status, they continue to rap about guns, violence, and an exaggerated lifestyle they no longer live. The contradiction between their wealth and their music becomes evident, exposing the hypocrisy of their personas.

The Downfall of Fraudulent Rappers:

While not all rappers are fake, a significant majority fall into this category. Gunna and the rest of YSL, once considered the realest rappers in the industry, became the very thing they despised: snitches. These rappers snitched on their mentor, Young Thug, betraying the loyalty they once professed. The irony lies in their use of their gang affiliation to further their careers, only to succumb to the temptation of self-preservation.

The Reality Behind the Facade:

It is crucial to recognize that rappers are primarily entertainers. Their words should not always be taken seriously, as they are often playing a role. However, the unfortunate reality is that many of their fans fail to grasp this concept. Social media exacerbates this
