Changes are really tricky. Day by day nothing changes but when we look back, everything looks alien. The advancement in technology has changed our lives drastically. Ten years ago, if we were told that movies would be released on OTT platforms and not in theatres, we would have laughed it off. Evidently, the future had other plans!
From hospitals to cinemas to education, everything is now online. The education landscape has changed and how! This shift to online education is predominantly due to the advancement of technology.
On monsoons, when it was cold and rainy, Mom used to wake me up for early morning classes and I used to think how great it would be if I could bring the school to me rather than me going to school! Guess what, I got it! Should have wished for a genie or something!! Jokes apart, we are witnessing a digital revolution and a major shift. People have become more open to the idea of online education and digital learning. There are 761.29 million Internet users in India. The penetration of the Internet has made online education more acceptable and viable.
3 Ways Education Changed Over The Years
1. More Emphasis on Online Education
As mentioned above, a lot of people have shifted to online teaching and learning. Online education has become a buzzword and because of the ease and convenience that it offers, a lot of people have started loving it. Initially, teachers were skeptical about the shift. However, teachers who have found the right online teaching app are acing it. When students are placed at the center, learning is better and the concepts are conveyed in a much better manner. The old school methods of sticking to the syllabus and a strict run to finish off what's in the textbook will not work anymore. Students have access to information at their fingertips and they are inquisitive than ever. The idea is to instill a love for learning and to enable students to arrive at solutions on their own rather than handholding them all the while.
Edtech is evolving at a rapid rate and with a gazillion options for teachers to grow and develop their teaching/ coaching business, it is safe to say that online education is here to stay and win. While traditional classrooms cannot be thrown out of the picture, online teaching and online education will be put on a pedestal or will at least win the same attention as the traditional form of teaching. We will have to wait and see what the future holds.
