The Basics to Ai!

With everyone attempting to incorporate AI into their everyday lives, it would be wonderful if someone would tell you where to start wouldn’t it? It would be amazing if someone could explain what even is AI right? Well, I’m here to tell you the basics to getting into the world of AI. I’m no expert and I am still learning along the way, but I do know the basics and I hope to relay them to you. Along the way I hope to enlighten you at least a little bit about the vase world of Ai.

Ai, artificial intelligence but what does that mean? The most basic answer I could give you is that artificial intelligence is when a computer and or machine performs a task that requires intelligence. That means computers and machines are man made so are they artificial. If a computer or machine performs a task, that’s displaying intelligence. If you add the two you get AI or artificial intelligence.

One of the most used Ai appliances right now is Chat GPT. Chat GPT is a chatbot. That means you write something in the chatbox and the bot will generate a response. The GPT stands for Generative, Pre-Trained, Transformer. That is how the chatbot is able to give you a response. The transformer or computer is pre-trained because it is able to access information from the internet to generate an accurate response to your prompt.

Chat GPT is a bot at the end of the day so it is only as good as the person operating it. In order to effectively use Chat GPT you must be able to come up with good prompts. A prompt is whatever you enter into Chat GPT’s chatbox. This could be a question, a command, or any request you could think of. As long your prompt is within Chat GPT’s limitations you should get a response.

A good prompt for Chat GPT is when you are literally telling it what to write. It is important to include as much details as possible because when the AI has all the information it is able to generate a more accurate response. So be sure to include things like to whom the response is going to and how the response should be structured. All of these components come together to ensure that the response you get isn’t just a bunch of random words. If you take the time to master the ability to come up with good prompts then you will have a great time navigating the world of AI.

When coming up with my prompt I like to give the AI a role, a task to complete, details, and a format to follow. Giving the AI a role gives it the impression that it is a character who has a task to accomplish. Sharing details about who the character is or how they operate give the AI some identity when generating a response. The format is simply how the AI formats its responses to your prompts. Following these guidelines will ensure that you get a good response but if the response is not to your liking, you should always go back and change your prompt until you get your desired response.

I hope this gave you a small insight into the world of Ai. Chat GPT is a commandly used application that everyone should be aware of. Chat GPT is way more than just a chatbox however we’re only talking about the basics today. The basics are saying you need to get good at coming up with prompts.
