Run Unlimited Websites and Apps on a Single Hosting Plan: The Complete Guide
The Complete Guide
Do you want to run multiple services like a WordPress website, an automation tool (like n8n), or even your own custom app using just one hosting plan? Often, we think about buying a new hosting plan for each service, which can get very expensive.
In this guide, I'll show you how to host all your websites, apps, and tools in one place using just a single VPS hosting plan. This method will not only save you money but also make managing all your projects incredibly simple.
- How Is This All Possible?
- For this amazing setup, we'll use two things:
- VPS Hosting from Hostinger: This gives us a powerful server.
The Koolifi Tool: This is a self-hosted platform that makes it extremely easy to install and manage different applications on our server. You can think of it as your own personal Heroku.
With this combination, you can run WordPress, n8n, Ghost (for newsletters), or any custom web application on a single server.
Step 1: Get VPS Hosting from Hostinger
First, you'll need a VPS hosting plan.
Choose a Plan: Go to Hostinger and select the KVM 2 plan. It offers excellent performance, and it's the one I use myself. Choosing the 24-month plan will give you the best price.
Select Server Location: Choose a server location based on your audience, such as India or the US.
Choose the Operating System (OS): This is the most crucial step. From the list of operating systems, you must select Koolifi.
Create an Account and Pay: If you don't have a Hostinger account, create a new one and complete the payment.
Once you've done all this, you'll see your VPS dashboard.
Step 2: Set Up Koolifi
After your VPS is ready, it's time to configure Koolifi.
- Create Your Koolifi Account
In your Hostinger VPS dashboard, click on "Manage Panel." This will open Koolifi in a new tab.
Initially, it might show "Not Secure," but don't worry. We'll fix that.
Create a new account on Koolifi by entering your name, email, and password.
- Connect Your Domain
Now, we need to connect Koolifi to your domain name so we can access it easily.
Go to Koolifi Settings: From the dashboard, go to settings and enter your domain name. You can use a subdomain, like koolifi.yourdomain.com.
Copy the IP Address: You'll need your VPS server's IP address. You can find this in your Hostinger dashboard or within Koolifi.
- Add a DNS Record:
Go to your domain registrar's DNS management section (like GoDaddy or Namecheap).
Create a new 'A' record.
In the Host/Name field, enter your subdomain (e.g., koolifi).
In the Value/Points to field, paste your VPS IP address.
- Save the record.
Save in Koolifi: After adding the DNS record, return to Koolifi and save the settings. Your domain will be connected shortly, and an SSL certificate will be activated, making your site secure.
Important Tip: For better security and management, transfer your domain's DNS to Cloudflare. It's free and gives your website an extra layer of protection.
Step 3: Install Your First Service (n8n)
Now that our Koolifi setup is complete, let's install our first service.
- Create a Project: In the Koolifi dashboard, go to "Projects" and create a new project. You can name it "Websites" or "Automations."
- Add a Resource: Inside the project, click on "Add a new resource."
- Search for n8n: Type "n8n" in the search bar and select it.
- Set the Domain: Before deploying, go to the domain settings and set a subdomain for n8n, like n8n.yourdomain.com.
Deploy: Now, click "Deploy." Koolifi will install n8n in just a few minutes.
Once the installation is complete, you can access your n8n dashboard from the provided link.
Step 4: Install WordPress
Now, let's see how to install WordPress on your main domain.
- Add a Resource: Go back to your project ("Websites") and click "Add a new resource."
- Search for WordPress: Search for "WordPress" and choose the "WordPress with MariaDB" option.
- Set the Domain: This time, in the domain settings, enter your main domain, like https://yourdomain.com.
- Deploy: Click "Deploy."
- In a few minutes, your WordPress site will be live on your main domain! You can open it and set it up just like any other WordPress site.
Step 5: How to Update and Manage Your Services
- Self-hosting means you are also responsible for updates. In Koolifi, this is very easy.
- Updating a Service (like WordPress )
- Stop the Service: In Koolifi, go to your WordPress service and "Stop" it.
- Deploy Again: Once the service has stopped, simply click the "Deploy" button again. Koolifi will automatically download the latest version of WordPress and update it.
- Don't Worry, Your Data is Safe: Koolifi keeps your data (posts, pages, images) safe in a separate "Persistent Storage," so none of your data will be deleted during an update.
Backups for Security
- Although Koolifi keeps your data safe, taking regular backups is always a good practice.
- Use the UpdraftPlus Plugin: Install the UpdraftPlus plugin on your WordPress site.
- Set Up Automatic Backups: Connect it to your Google Drive or Dropbox and set up daily automatic backups. This will ensure your entire site is securely backed up.
Conclusion: Everything Is Now Under Your Control
With this guide, you can now run countless websites and applications on a single VPS hosting plan. Koolifi makes the entire process so simple that anyone can do it. You no longer need to buy new hosting for every small project.
This is a permanent solution for you, saving you money while giving you complete control over all your digital projects.
