On March 29, 2025, Apeejay School, Faridabad (Sector-15), hosted its Orientation Programme with great warmth and enthusiasm, welcoming the newest members of its academic family. The event marked the beginning of a promising journey for students and parents alike, as they were introduced to the school’s vision, values, and vibrant learning environment.

Embodying the school’s cherished motto, Soaring High is My Nature, the orientation aimed to familiarise parents with the institute’s ethos and the enriching experiences that await their children. A heartfelt tribute was paid to the school’s revered Founder-Chairman, Dr Stya Paul, whose vision of value-based, holistic education continues to illuminate the path for generations of learners. With his blessings and legacy guiding the way, the programme began on an inspiring note — full of promise, purpose, and pride.

The school Principal, Ms Snehlata Krishnan, along with Ms Gunjan Sharma, Pre-primary Incharge, and Ms Deepa Sharma, Academic Coordinator managing the Senior Secondary Wing, were called upon to light the lamp amid the chanting of the Ganesh Vandana by the school choir. The ceremonial lighting of the lamp signifies the dispelling of darkness and the awakening of wisdom, illuminating our minds and guiding us on the path to knowledge and enlightenment.

This was followed by a dance paying tribute to Lord Ganesh. The Principal then took the stage and extended a warm welcome to all the parents. “On behalf of the entire Apeejay family, I extend a warm and heartfelt welcome to all the parents. This orientation programme is structured to give you an in-depth understanding of what lies ahead. It is not only an introduction to our systems and processes but also a platform to foster meaningful engagement. We look forward to building a strong partnership with our parents,” she said.

Apeejay Education has a legacy of over 50 years — an enduring commitment to excellence, innovation, and nation-building. Founded by Dr Stya Paul, a visionary educationist, philanthropist, and freedom fighter, our institute stands on the pillars of value-based learning. His dream was not only to educate minds but also to shape responsible, compassionate citizens. This mission is being carried forward by Mrs Sushma Paul Berlia, Chairman, Apeejay Stya and Svran Group, Chancellor, Apeejay Stya University, and Chairman, Apeejay Education.

Ms Krishnan introduced the next generation of leaders: Mr Nishant Berlia, Co-Family Business Owner and Core Board Member, Apeejay Stya and Svran Group and Pro-Chancellor, Apeejay Stya University; Mr Aditya Berlia, Co-Family Business Owner and Core Board Member, Apeejay Stya and Svran Group and Pro-Chancellor of Apeejay Stya University; and Dr Neha Berlia, Co-Family Business Owner and Core Board Member, Apeejay Stya and Svran Group and Pro-Chancellor of Apeejay Stya University. Their contributions to education, Artificial Intelligence and innovation have added new dimensions to Apeejay Education’s legacy.

“Our classrooms are driven by innovative instructional practices. We don’t just prepare students for exams—we prepare them for life,” the Principal said. The strong alumni network is a reflection of the solid foundation provided at the school. Many former students return to share their experiences, inspiring current learners and serving as mentors. This connection helps bridge classroom learning with real-world application.

Continuous professional development for teachers is a priority. “Education is ever-evolving, and so must we be. Our commitment to growth ensures your children receive the very best every day,” she affirmed. The school’s programmes are thoughtfully designed to be relevant, meaningful, and aligned with the demands of the future.

Ms Krishnan added, “Our approach is child-centric and collaborative. We focus on discipline, humility, and teamwork from the early years. Thematic, integrated learning from Pre-nursery to Class III is aligned with NEP 2020 and encourages holistic development through arts, sports, and academics.”

Apeejay School offers exposure across various domains — music, art, reading, sports, and life skills — empowering children to explore their interests. “We believe play is purposeful and a vital part of learning. Our goal is to nurture curious, empathetic, and socially aware individuals, ready to thrive in every sphere of life,” she elaborated.

The school follows policies that promote uniformity and inclusivity,” shared Ms Krishnan. She explained that birthday celebrations are to be kept simple, with children attending school in uniform. Instead of lavish parties, students are encouraged to mark their special day with meaningful acts, like donating a book to the library or planting a sapling in the school garden. This fosters a sense of purpose and community pride.

She also highlighted the importance of healthy eating and shared the school’s routine of a fruit break followed by lunch. “Eating fruits first helps the body absorb nutrients more efficiently,” she advised. “We recommend children bring at least one fruit daily, packed separately from lunch, to maintain freshness and control portions. This simple habit supports energy levels and better digestion throughout the day.”

At the school, each child is nurtured holistically. “We focus on the development of the whole child — spiritual, emotional, mental, physical, intellectual, and skill-based,” she said. Spiritually, students are taught values and resilience. Emotionally and mentally, they learn to manage feelings and develop self-awareness. Intellectual and interpersonal growth is promoted through critical thinking and communication. Physical well-being is supported through movement and nutrition, while hands-on, NEP-aligned learning fosters essential skills for the future.

Ms Gunjan Sharma then invited all the parents to stand up for a quick exercise that looked as if it was all play. But it was more than that; it was a learning exercise in listening, dancing, music, and body coordination. The parents were also introduced to the different Houses. The idea, the parents were told, is to instil belonging, collaboration, and healthy competition among students.

To maintain order and uniformity, students are expected to follow a proper dress code, including wearing school shoes and carrying their ID cards daily, the parents were told. Punctuality and preparedness, such as bringing bags, water bottles, and two meals, are also essential. For safety reasons, tiffin boxes and water bottles must be sent with the child in the morning, as items delivered later to the school gate will not be accepted. In case of any changes in address, contact number, or email ID, parents are required to inform the school promptly using the prescribed format available at the admission desk.

To promote simplicity and avoid distractions, students are discouraged from wearing expensive jewellery and watches. Girls are advised to use only black hair accessories such as clips, bands, and headbands. Additionally, the use of nail paint and hair colour is not permitted, reinforcing the school’s focus on discipline and uniformity. The parents were also taken through the assessment criteria that the school follows across all classes (excluding Classes X and XII) and the marks allocation by Ms Mamta Arora, PGT Physics.

Ms Shalini Yadav, TGT Computers and Moodle Coordinator, took the stage. She explained the details and walked parents through how to access Moodle and how it benefits parents and students. This was followed by a Q&A session where parents clarified their doubts.

“At Apeejay School, our goal is to ensure that when our children leave the school system, they are not only educated minds but empowered individuals ready to make their mark on the world,” Ms Krishnan said and thanked the parents for being part of the programme.

Speaking about the orientation, the father of Parth Mahata (who took admission in Class VII) said, “The programme was extremely informative. There is a lot of information to assimilate. My only expectation is that my son should have a good education, keeping in tune with the present industry needs.”

Another parent, whose son has taken admission in KG, shared, “While I didn’t get a chance to listen to the entire programme, my wife told me it was great. My son, Kabir, my only expectation is that there be a balance of academics and sports. I found that the school has Sports Guru, which is excellent.”

Ms Khushboo, parent of a student who has taken admission in Class VI, said the programme was great and informative. “I am excited to learn that the school doesn’t follow a policy of rote learning. I hope there is a good balance between theory and practical learning,” the parent shared.
