Problems Faced During Online Classes

The coronavirus outbreak has affected and is affecting all walks of life. Speaking of the education sector, it is also facing serious problems at the moment. We first look at these issues in the light of academic standards and then move on to our column: (1) Students in grades one through eight will be at home until July 15, that is, after the opening of the new academic year. Will start Although the examinations of these parties had been held or were being held all over the country or the preparations for the examinations were in progress but due to the lockdown the whole process was suspended.

Schools promoted all their students to the next class, planning the holidays as summer vacations, and some schools started a useful series of lectures using social media as education. It is also a welcome thing for students to stay at home and engage in educational activities. (2) Secondary and higher secondary students who had completed their academic year and were about to take exams. It is to be noted that the examinations of these classes are conducted by the Board of Secondary and Higher Education and at present four million students are affiliated with the boards across the country.

Due to the lockdown, the boards have postponed their examinations and now, along with announcing their cancellation, they have also decided on a promotion strategy for the students of class IX, X, XI and XII. (1) Those students of universities and colleges. Knowledge that is being studied in BS, MS or M.Phil, Ph.D., BA or B.Sc. At a recent HEC meeting of Vice-Chancellors, it was decided that universities should conduct online classes for these students from June 1 and promote them to the next classes through online examinations. It is to be noted here that no one will be promoted to the next class without examination.

The title of our column is related to this. I think it is necessary to mention the first two incidents which will make it easier for us to understand the situation of our technology and online classes. First, it was in 2002 when the head of a district administration went to a computer training institute. The head of the district administration said that the reason for learning computer was that he had gone abroad for a training.

Where they were given notebook computers to work on during the training. The computer alphabet was so far away, they didn't even know how to turn it on. When there was a break in the training or the end of the day, the Filipino friend would set up a document on the computer for him. ۔ Second, it was in 2011 that a Pakistani university launched a PhD (online) program on an experimental basis. The purpose of the program was for students to pursue higher education at home.

He chose the computer science subject for this experiment because his students are well versed in computer and information technology. Admission tests and interviews were conducted in which five students from Islamabad, Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were declared successful. The university hired teaching staff from abroad. I couldn't get ready soon because of the difference. Finally, the time of 7 pm was decided by mutual consultation of teachers and students.

The problem was video conferencing for online classes. Students were asked to contact their nearest university and apply for the facility. The students tried their best but the universities gave a resounding answer. He also offered to involve his faculty and students in these courses so that they could benefit from the talents of teachers from outside the world, but this offer did not work. In this world of frustration, it was decided to use traditional messenger for teaching which supports audio and video.

The university experiment failed and they did not re-apply online. Remember that as we enter the 21st century, we spend more money on science and technology. Established information technology directorates at the provincial level, set up new universities and built IT blocks and laboratories in schools and colleges but today the performance of all of them is before us. We do not have a system that allows students to be taught online at home.

It is hoped that universities will take this into account and launch online classes so that all students benefit equally and their academic semester or year is saved from being wasted.
