The Last Year of your School Days

Hello, fellas. Welcome to my blogs, and I'm going to guide you through the way to get great marks, but remember, nothing is promising, its all about efforts too. If you can follow this steps, at least you can achieve a better grades enough to be confident for A Levels. Lets get in!

Why is O-Level important?

O-Level is also known as IGCSE

To get started, its a wise move to know the reason and hit up with every relatable question on that. Pour your curiosity and queries in the comment section below.

O Level is the foundation of your high school graduation process. Whether passing this qualification or not, A Level will be your next monster to battle. For example, your goal is to become a civil engineer. the first step is completing high school that includes O Level (Year 10) and A Level (Year 11 and 12) to get into the university for your civil engineering degree. You have to know the way to pass all the steps and have a chance to enroll in the university, whether locally or abroad.

Process is slightly different.

Another reason O Level is important because its like a basic knowledge for A Levels. If you understand O Level like a piece of cake, A Level difficulty will be fair.

Getting good grades will show how well you knew but remember, do not forget what you learned from O Level, its a basic tools for A Levels. Keep it in your mind.

Step 1 - Know your subjects

Even though its just a basic studies, you have to choose the related subjects to help you in A Levels. There are 3 mandatory subjects: Local language (E.x- Bangla for Bangladesh), English Language and Maths.

Then comes remaining subjects as elective. Research on the career you want to grow and which field does it go into? Science or Commerce? Mixing up Science and Commerce together may give you more points but later, you end up having too much stress and find it hard to pass the O Level, later in A Level, it gets a bad news and 5 times more study will be needed to pass A Level.

After your perfect choice of subjects for O Level, its time for study!

Step 2 - Study smart

I know studying harder is a way but with smarter method, you can pass without a sweat over your forehead. I know how it feels studying a full year and getting unexpected grades. So, I came up with a method my teacher taught me to apply.

Follow this way:

  • Map out and arrange all the contents of each of your subject
  • Take teacher's guide, do not rely on them
  • Attend the classes to make exclusive notes, even stay after classes to get more knowledges
  • Practice each question of the book but do not repeat the same type of questions if you have mastered it. Same time for important ones
  • Make notes and hang it on the wall to juggle your memory without having to save it for study session
  • Save fun for a day of the week and take rest of 30 minutes per study session
  • Treat yourself a reward for achieving great result from school

Repeat those steps each time and see yourself getting better, mostly towards the mock tests.

Step 3 - Arrange your room free from distractions

Remember, your room has to be a fortress from not others but your mind. Guard your mind in a way to not get into fun stuffs like Netflix or games since it can wait during your university life, I will explain that part later in the other article, but your main aim right now is passing O Level with proper knowledge too.

Cancel out subscriptions (Its an advise), put your game saves in clouds and delete those games, then get back in preparation, and give yourself time away from fun stuffs until you pass

Step 4 - Create a routine by subjects a week

This will help you fasten up your subject completion progress in books, even the questions papers too. Remember to hang it where it appears to your sight every moment to remind you and plan your day like that. Priorities it by important firsts. Do not rush out. Its not about finishing the subject too quick but to give yourself a discipline of completing the studies with full understanding and managing daily life activities to achieve your goal.

Step 5 - Dynamic method

To save the time, you can even complete each chapter of the subject and jump into the chapter-wise question paper to solve then mark yourself with mark schemes mercilessly (No one is gonna watch your marks, relax).

You can find the mark schemes in the websites like, Save My Exams, PMT, Revision Maths, and also you can find in the official website of Pearson Edexcel (If you are under Edexcel curriculum) . If you cannot find any specific mark scheme from the web, ask about it from your teacher if you are having coaching sessions.

Sometimes, matching with mark schemes can be daunting since you may not know how the answer just popped up. So, Youtube can be your best friend. There are a lot of genius who solves the question papers and it matches with the mark scheme.

Step 6 - Year-wise Question Paper

You are one level closer to the examinations with your sharp spear like Leonidas of Sparta and smash the exam to pass because next battle is not gonna be lemon-squeezee. Its time to grab your pen, hold your breathe and start your practice battle in the ground of Year-wise Question paper. This will help you imagine how the questions of the final exam will look like just like a blue print. For ensuring you, year-wise questions were the previous question paper, its a pattern, follow it. Cheers!

Step 7 - Be Confident

Finally, you are some weeks away from your exam, its time to be confident, fingers crossed. Do not think you are gonna fail despite your hardworks all those months you have been working on. Remember, its not mainly about passing the exam but to remember every bit of what you learned because it will be helpful for you for life, I mean lifetime! Its time to let your brain know that you can do it!

I will write more blogs on dos and donts in the next blogs for you fellas to be cautious. Save some more energy, keep your knowledge, do not relax too much, neither stress too much. Chill and brace yourself.

Thanks for reading this. I try my best to give you a great advice from myself, the A+ students and achievers words packed in this article. Stay chill and happy, do not forget the exam... If possible, do not forget me ;)
