Clear and consistent disciplinary actions for policy violations that are enforced fairly and proportionate to severity of infraction.

Auditing and Monitoring

Regular internal audits to test policies/procedures and monitor hotline reports, supplemented by external audits when substantial violations occur or are suspected.

Responding to Issues

Process to investigate suspected noncompliance promptly and take corrective actions to resolve fully, disclose issues as required, and prevent recurrence. Oversight from management and board provides accountability.

While establishing the core elements of a compliance program is crucial, managing compliance requires ongoing effort. Regular evaluation and enhancement of the program ensures it evolves with changing laws and operations while cultivating a culture of integrity. Effective communication, training, and leadership help maintain focus on ethics and accountability as the healthcare industry navigates complex regulatory responsibilities.
