A close friend of mine recently made a surprising career shift. He had been an interior designer for a few years but felt stuck with no real growth. Out of nowhere, he decided to switch to IT and joined an AWS DevOps training program. I couldn’t believe it at first switching careers like that seemed like a huge risk. But in his words, “I needed a fresh start and something more challenging.”

Before I knew it, the guy who used to be free all the time became super busy no calls, no texts. A few weeks later, we finally caught up. I asked him what had been keeping him so occupied. That’s when he told me about the AWS course he was taking and how it was helping him transition into the IT world.

He explained how he had no IT background but still managed to understand the concepts thanks to how the training was structured. Seeing how excited he was about it, he invited me to attend a demo session with him. At the time, I didn’t have a steady job either, so I thought, why not give it a shot?

The demo session turned out to be an eye-opener. The trainer had over 18 years of experience and broke down complex topics in a way that was easy to understand even for someone like me with zero experience in IT. For the first time, I felt like the tech world wasn’t as intimidating as I thought it would be.

After some thinking, I decided to enroll in the course. My batch had only six students, which made it feel more like a personal coaching session than a traditional class. The trainer had enough time to focus on each one of us, which helped a lot. We had plenty of hands-on practice with real-world projects, which made the learning process so much more effective.

The schedule was super flexible, with options for morning, afternoon, and evening batches. This made it easy to manage my time. The course also included regular assessments to track our progress, which helped me identify areas where I needed improvement. Plus, we had long-term access to course materials, so I could go back and practice whenever I needed to.

Once the course ended, I felt confident enough to start applying for jobs. But things didn’t go as smoothly as I had imagined. I updated my resume and sent out applications, but two weeks passed without a single response. That’s when I realized that job hunting takes patience and persistence.

Eventually, I got an opportunity at a startup. It wasn’t a big MNC, but it turned out to be exactly what I needed. The experience I gained there was invaluable. I worked on real projects, learned new skills, and started building my IT career from scratch.

Looking back, switching careers was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. It wasn’t easy, but it opened up a whole new world of possibilities for me. I learned that it’s never too late to take a risk and try something new.

If you’re considering a career change, don’t be afraid to take the leap. It might feel uncertain at first, but with the right training and the willingness to learn, you’ll be surprised at how far you can go. Sometimes, the biggest risks lead to the most rewarding outcomes.
