Keep a journal to keep track of what you eat!
It's an old trick but it works! Keeping a journal to track your daily food intake can be a great way to stay conscious about what you eat. Plus, you don't even have to use pen and paper, nowadays you can use all sorts of apps that make tracking your food intake easier. Fun fact: if you are trying to lose weight, studies show that keeping a food journal leads to a greater success rate than those who do not keep one! Keeping a food journal can also help you become more aware of your daily habits and you can take steps to improve them. And hey, if all else fails, at least you can use it to figure out why you gained weight. Sarcasm aside, keeping a journal really can help you lose weight in the long run!
Avoid processed foods!
Processed foods have become an easy go-to for many people when it comes to making meals quickly and conveniently. Unfortunately, processed foods are loaded with unhealthy ingredients such as saturated fats, sodium, added sugars, and preservatives. Eating too much of these foods can cause a range of health issues, from obesity and diabetes to cardiovascular diseases. Eating a diet of heavily processed foods can also lead to early death due to the high amounts of unhealthy ingredients. To avoid these risks, opt for healthier options like fruits and vegetables that have been minimally processed.
Get enough sleep!
Getting enough sleep is one of the most important tips to follow if you want to lose weight on the keto diet. Sleep helps your body relax and heal after a day of exercising or following a ketogenic diet. Poor quality sleep can lead to feeling more fatigued and irritable, which can make sticking to your diet much more difficult. Aim for at least 8 hours of sleep each night and try to go to bed at the same time each night so you can develop a regular sleep pattern. Avoid looking at screens such as your phone or computer in the hour before bed as this can disrupt your circadian rhythm (A circadian rhythm, or circadian cycle, is a natural, internal process that regulates the sleep–wake cycle and repeats roughly every 24 hours.) and interfere with your sleep. Additionally, try to reduce your caffeine intake in the afternoon and evening to avoid keeping you awake late into the night. When you get enough quality sleep, you will feel more motivated and dedicated to following your diet.
Eat more fat if you go to the gym!
If you're hitting the gym and working out regularly, it's important to fuel your body with healthy fats. Eating more fat can help you lose weight because it helps to keep you full longer and reduces your overall calorie intake. Eating the right amount of fat is also important for providing energy for your workouts. The keto diet recommends that you get around 70% of your calories from healthy fats such as avocados, nuts, seeds, coconut oil, and olive oil. Consuming healthy fats while working out can also help to burn more fat because they help you to stay fat-burning. Fats can also help to increase your endurance levels, allowing you to work out for longer periods. Lastly, healthy fats are essential for maintaining healthy cells, which is essential for optimal performance and recovery after a workout. Eating the right amount of healthy fats daily can make all the difference when it comes to achieving your fitness goals.
Avoid sugary drinks!
When it comes to maintaining a healthy weight and achieving success with the keto diet, avoiding sugary drinks is key! Sugary drinks like soda, juice, and energy drinks are packed with sugar and empty calories. These drinks provide little to no nutritional value and can actually lead to weight gain. To make matters worse, drinking sugary beverages can spike your blood sugar and insulin levels, leading to an increased appetite and cravings for more sugary foods. To stay on track with your weight loss goals, it’s best to avoid sugary drinks altogether. If you’re craving something sweet, opt for a glass of water with a squeeze of lemon or lime. If you want something fizzy, try sparkling water with a splash of 100% fruit juice. You could also make yourself a smoothie with some fresh or frozen fruit and a handful of greens. This will provide you with a balanced source of nutrients and help to satisfy any cravings.
Exercise!
Ah, yes... Exercise. The dreaded “E” word. We all know we should do it, but that doesn’t make it any easier when the time comes to actually do it! But let me tell you, exercise is key when it comes to the keto diet! If you want to reach your weight loss goals on the keto diet, then you’re going to need to move those muscles! Regular exercise helps to burn fat and increase energy levels. So make sure you’re making time for workouts! It’s also important to know that exercising on the keto diet can be especially effective. That’s because the keto diet encourages you to eat more fat while limiting your carb intake. As a result, your body is primed and ready to burn off those fat stores more quickly than if you were just following a regular diet plan. So here’s a fun fact: The keto diet and exercise are the perfect combination! Get your body moving and watch the pounds melt away!
Eat carbs and then work out to burn off fat faster!
If you want to get rid of fat like it’s a bad date you never asked for, eating carbs and then working out is the way to go. Eating carbohydrates before a workout gives your body an extra boost of energy that will help you power through your workout. And when you work out after eating carbs, you’ll be able to burn more fat because your body will be using the energy from carbohydrates instead of the fat. So, if you’re looking to dump fat quickly and efficiently, make sure you stock up on those carbs and hit the gym!
Have designated days where you work out and where you rest!
Ah yes, the most important part of the keto diet. It can be hard to maintain a consistent workout schedule, but having designated days where you work out and rest is key! Working out too much can lead to fatigue and exhaustion, which can undo any progress you have made. But at the same time, it's important to stay active so you can burn fat and get the most out of the keto diet. Designating specific days for working out and for rest will help keep your routine balanced, and you'll get the most out of your efforts. Not only that, but you'll be able to better enjoy your rest days, knowing that you've put in the hard work and earned it. So don't skimp on those rest days – they're just as important as your work-out days when it comes to losing weight with the keto diet!
