"Job: A New Form of Slavery?"

"Are we the prisoners of our lives?"

By Rahul KumarPublished about a year ago 2 min read

Introduction:

Have you ever woken up to the sound of your alarm and thought, "Is this the life I dreamed of? Is this daily grind—being chained to a desk and waiting for the month-end paycheck—your true identity?

When immersed in the world of 9 to 5, you feel your soul crying out, "Why am I here?" Maybe that is the nature of modern jobs—as silent as the quiet theft of our freedom.

The Silent Return of Slavery:

Freedom Lost : Did you know that slavery has no chains? And aren't choices and thoughts disappearing from you and you no longer in control of your own time not also slavery? Jobs take away your freedom to sleep and wake and think at will.

Dreams Suffocate : The great ambitions of childhood—that something big, a unique identity—where are they now? Probably under the monotony of daily work. Jobs lure us into a "secure" life, often at the cost of our dreams.

A Life of Robots:

The Cycle of Repetition : Wake up, go to work, come back, sleep, repeat. Have you ever noticed how this cycle turns life into that of a robot? Every moment is lived for the next deadline.

Dying Emotions : Life locked in work stress and scolding bosses in an office which breeds politics. The important skills are forgotten how to laugh, cry, or live for ourselves.

Emotional and Psychological Exploitation:

The Mountain of Stress : "If I miss this month's target, I will lose my job." This fear deprives millions of their sleep. The mind cannot be freed out from work; it keeps chewing away at our emotions slowly.

Physical Exploitation : Sitting for 9 hours a day leads to back pain, eye strain, and obesity. Does anyone in your office care? Doubtful.

A Society Obsessed with Jobs:

Dreams Sacrifice : Study hard, get a good job." Our society has confined the definition of success to having a job. Thinking of doing something different is often considered foolishness.

Loosing one's identity : One who goes to work every morning gradually loses his true identity. He is simply a name or a designation.

Breaking Free: How to come out of these shackles of slavery?

Prioritize your dream : In addition to your work, find time to pursue your childhood dreams—writing, singing, or working on a new idea.

Entrepreneurship and Freelancing : Working for yourself doesn't only guarantee financial freedom but also the freedom of living according to your wishes.

Balance Your Life : Maintain a balance between your job and personal life. Don't let work become your life's ruler.

Conclusion:

One word "job" brings us the sense of security in our minds. But if the same job is imposing upon our freedom, emotions, and dreams, isn't it no less slavery?

This article tells you that you don't live your life for a job. Don't let it enslave you. Fight for your happiness, your dreams because that's where freedom indeed lies.

What do you say to this? Do you feel your job is also a sort of slavery? Let's talk about this then!

Disclaimer:

This is not an attempt to hurt the sentiments of job holders. It merely aims to provoke deep thought and reflection.
