The role of IAS Coaching in Delhi (India), which Provides Guidance to these Civil services Aspirants cannot be undermined. At the same time, I would like to say there have been Candidates who qualify for this prestigious Examination without Coaching as well. They may have someone in the family who could guide them for this Examination.

In addition to it, there are so many factors about UPSC CSE that attracts the young mind. A few factors which attract Students across this Country include - it gives opportunity to serve the nation, the Social respect that this Service hold, Job security, the opportunity to solve challenging Problems of Daily life faced by People, Perks and other allowances and so many other things that this service offers.

In general approx. 9 -10 lakhs of Candidates apply to appear in this Prestigious UPSC CSE and nearly half of them appear in Preliminary Examination, the First stage of UPSC CSE.

Again there may be so many reasons for students who wanted to appear but did not appear in this Examination. One reason may be a lack of Guidance to crack this Exam. These Candidates may be put in the category of non-Serious Candidates. However, not all who appear in Preliminary Exam are serious Students.

Pertaining to Civil Services Coaching Two Questions that CSE Aspirant generally wants to Know are, Is it inevitable to take guidance from any Civil Services Coaching? If yes then Which Coaching is best for the Preparation for this Prestigious UPSC CSE?

As mentioned above the role of IAS Coaching cannot be undermined though few candidates may have qualified for this Exam without the guidance of any UPSC Coaching. The simple reason for this is UPSC CSE is highly competitive in nature.

Role of IAS Coaching:

Civil services coaching offers many Programs as per the requirement of this Examination and Aspirants. Generally, almost all coaching provides General studies – Foundation Course which covers a General Studies Paper of both Preliminary, Mains & Personality Development.

Apart from this, some short-term Programs like GS for Prelims, Mains, and Optional Subjects, Test Series for Prelims & Mains, and guidance for Interviews with a few Mock are also provided.

Aspirants must know their weak areas and take the guidance of coaching in order to overcome those weak areas so as to combat this Prestigious UPSC CSE.

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC):

The constitution of India was inaugurated on 26th January 1950 and with its implementation, the erstwhile Federal Public Service Commission came to be known as Union Public Service Commission. Consequently, the Chairman & members of the former commission became chairmen and members of UPSC.

About UPSC CSE

UPSC CSE, the commission recruits officers for All Indian Services, allied Services & other central Services. This Examination has three stages Preliminary, Mains & Personality Development. The preliminary Examination being the first stage has the objective to eliminate nonserious candidates from the second stage of the Examination i.e. Mains Examination.

The Preliminary Exam of UPSC CSE has two Papers – General Studies & CSAT.

The nature of the Questions is objective in both Papers. However only marks secured in the General Studies Paper are considered for shortlisting Candidates for the second stage of the Exam or UPSC CSE Main. The General Studies Paper of UPSC CSE Prelims has 100 Questions and each Question carries 2 marks. For every wrong answer, 1/3rd Marks of the marks allotted for each question are deducted.

However CSAT the second Paper of UPSC CSE Prelims has 80 Questions. Each Question carries 2.5 marks and the total marks for this Paper are 200 only. Also, for each wrong answer 1/3rd marks of the allotted marks for the question would be deducted.

The marks secured in CSAT are not used in shortlisting candidates for UPSC CSE Mains. However, the Candidate must qualify for this Paper and one must secure 33 % marks of 200 i.e. 66 marks in order to Qualify for this CSAT Paper.
