How To Survive The Uncertainty Of The Gen-Z Youth

Past generations far back as the 18th century had what might have seemed like a script to play in life. Back then, If your parents were Goldsmiths, you had an eighty percent chance of becoming a goldsmith yourself. Forging ahead was easier, mastering your craft looked more promising as one could start early enough. Such patterns are still obtainable in this dispensation but is on a high decline.

With the advancement of western formal education and school systems, wards and offsprings are now subjected to fields based off academic qualifications. Such activities are not essentially ideal in an unbiased setting as there could rise a situation where a fish could be judged by its ability to climb a tree.

As we forge further, we discover the underlying effects the western education has on offsprings by studying school patterns and its general modus operandi. The Idea of wearing matching uniforms transcends the concept of identification. It inculcates the mindset of subjective control towards the wards. Where else do we have such matching outfits? Thats right.. Our prisons. Going on, the Idea of sitting on a desk for long hours is looked upon as a continous programming to take up a job where one is expencted to sit at a place and perform certain tasks for long hours with intermediate breaks.

Over to the schools grading and rewards system. An observant mind can easily find out that the school system fosters the mindset of self sufficiency, all knowing and sometimes unhealthy competition, attributes which are of no good to an individual or the society. To succeed up to a particular level in life, one needs leverage, Information, Team work and some level of Fnancial knowledge, non of which are taught to millions of graduating students every year.

How do these youths then find a way and what does the future hold for them?

Anyone who has the mindset that he or she can succesfully carry out the laid down plans by the government for its citizens which includes going to school, getting a job, working harder on more jobs, investing without proper kmowledge or information, specializing in only one area, and finally waiting for an unavailable pension, you'll be screwed. Why? First there's fewer jobs than the applicants. And even if more jobs were introduced, theres a high chance that 80% of all will soon be done by more efficient robots.

In this modern dispensation, A youth should have sound knowledge in an array of fields, especially in underdeveloped or developing countries. You'd need to learn new skills and combine your knowledge to solve a peculiar or unique problem and create a new market. You'd need to learn what works by getting knowledge from books and other infomedia outlets. You might need a mentor if things are to go way faster. You'd need the leverage of information and the discipline to act on it as fast as possible because this my friends is the Information age.

We shall be needing more practical based, intensive, time sensitive educational centres focused on providing our youth with updated high paying skills in high demand and not the outdated, time consuming, bogus schools that have defaulted in serving its purpose in the past few years, Leaving students with huge student loan debts to pay off while working their whole life and not living up to thier potentials.

To our esteemed parents, times are changing, what worked at your youth might not be obtainable today or might be utterly obsolete. Things are changing, the competition is getting fiercer, the rich are getting richer, the middle class are getting wiped out, the poor are getting poorer. We should be wise enough to direct our kids right. If a school will help a child get to where they want in life then they should thread the path. But if it won't, the stereotypism surrounded with an absence of an educational degree should be nullified.

Just as the only thing constant is change, we should adapt to the changes surrounding the information age and try our possible best to always work smart and not hard, try out different fields till one works, master what works and then scale appropriately.
