HOW KELVIN STOP WATCHING PORN

HOW SOMEONE ABSTAIN FROM PORN

By Asante KennethPublished about a year ago 3 min read

Kelvin sat in his small apartment, the glow of his laptop casting shadows on the walls. He had just clicked through a series of familiar tabs, his heart racing with the anticipation that came from watching pornographic videos. Yet, after hours of scrolling, he felt the same emptiness he always did. It was a cycle he had been stuck in for years, one that left him feeling isolated and unfulfilled.

One night, after an especially long binge, Kelvin noticed something unusual. In his mind, he replayed the conversations he’d had with his friends earlier that week. They had talked about their hobbies, their dreams, and their lives outside of work. For the first time, he felt an overwhelming sense of shame for how he had been spending his free time. He wanted to share in those conversations, but he was too embarrassed to admit how he had been filling his evenings.

That night, as he closed his laptop, he made a decision: he would take a break from porn. He didn’t know how long it would last, but he knew he had to try. The next day, he deleted his bookmarks and uninstalled the apps that had become a part of his routine. It felt freeing, but also daunting.

At first, the withdrawal was tough. Kelvin found himself restless, pacing around his apartment, unsure of what to do with his time. The urge to go back to his old habits was strong, but he remembered how unhappy they made him. Determined to fill the void, he dusted off his guitar, an instrument he hadn’t touched in years. As he strummed the strings, melodies began to flow, and he lost track of time.

With each passing day, he rediscovered old passions. He took long walks in the nearby park, immersing himself in nature. He began to read books that had been gathering dust on his shelves, losing himself in stories that transported him to different worlds. He even joined a local photography group, picking up his camera for the first time in months.

As he engaged in these activities, he started to notice a shift within himself. The thrill of creating art, whether through music or photography, brought him a sense of joy he hadn’t experienced in a long time. He began sharing his work on social media, and the encouragement from friends and fellow artists felt like a warm embrace.

However, the journey wasn’t without its challenges. There were moments when the old urges crept back in, often when he was feeling lonely or stressed. On those nights, instead of reaching for his laptop, he reached for his guitar or went for a walk. He even started journaling about his feelings, allowing himself to express the emotions he had long buried.

One evening, as he walked home after a photography meet-up, Kelvin noticed a small art exhibit in a community center. Curiosity pulled him inside, and he was mesmerized by the creativity of others. Inspired, he decided to enter a local art contest, channeling his newfound passion into a project that he could share with the world.

As he poured himself into his art, the deadline approached. The excitement of creating and the satisfaction of putting himself out there helped him stay focused. When the day of the contest arrived, he was nervous but proud of what he had accomplished.

When he saw his work displayed among others, he felt a sense of belonging. The night was filled with laughter, conversation, and encouragement from fellow artists. As he chatted with others who shared his passion, he realized how much he had missed these connections during the years he spent lost in the digital world.

After the contest, Kelvin’s life began to take on a new rhythm. He started volunteering at the community center, teaching art classes to kids. The joy in their eyes as they created something new reminded him of why he had wanted to pursue art in the first place. He was no longer alone; he was part of something larger than himself.

Months passed, and Kelvin reflected on how far he had come. He felt liberated from the chains of his past habits. No longer did he feel the emptiness that had once consumed him; instead, he felt fulfilled and alive.

One night, as he strummed his guitar and admired the photographs hanging on his walls, he smiled. He had broken free from the cycle that had held him captive for so long. Kelvin had learned that true fulfillment came from connection, creativity, and the simple joys of life. And in that realization, he found not just freedom, but a renewed sense of purpose.
