At 13, I had already accepted that school just wasn’t “my thing.” I wasn’t stupid, but I was labeled as lazy, distracted, and unmotivated. I began believing it. I stopped trying, started skipping assignments, and spent more time daydreaming in class than actually learning anything.

But everything changed one day in eighth grade—on a random Tuesday that should’ve been like any other.

Eventually, I raised my GPA from a 1.9 to a 3.7 by my sophomore year of high school. By senior year, I was tutoring other students. I even gave a speech at graduation about academic resilience.

Looking back, it wasn’t one huge change. It was a domino effect. One teacher. One project. One moment of belief. That’s all it took to light a fire that never went out.
