Introduction

Reading is one of the best habits to strengthen our minds. Physical book reading is always better than reading a digital book. The smell of a new book is nostalgic for many of us. Being a book worm myself, I love to collect books of my personal choice. The collection has already become a small library at my home and the same is being enjoyed by my kids now.

Inculcating the habit of reading books is much needed for today's generation rather than only training them to use gadgets and technological equipment. It helps in developing cognitive skills and imaginative skills.

There are different genres of books like fantasy, horror, adventure, fiction, classic stories, fablore, mystery, comics, action, etc.

Below are 8 books suggested for first time readers. These are simple texted books with colorful illustrations to attract young readers and make reading simple.

1) Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What do you see?

This best seller book has sold over more than 50 million copies worldwide. This book explains the story of the big and small hare expressing their love for each other. It melts our hearts when we read the love between these two hares. It teaches kids the ways to give unconditional love to the people around us. Worth reading this book to the kid to make them understand about love.

7) Where is Baby’s Belly Button?

Author – Karen Katz

This is an interesting lift the flap interactive book. This book helps the babies to find and know about their own body parts. Parents can make the reading of this book more interesting by asking them the questions about body parts which are provided in the book.

8) That’s Not My ----------- (Thing) Series by Usborne

Author – Fiona Watt

The books in this series are colourful bright with Touch and Feel texture for kids to know the various textures of objects in their daily life. The text is very simple for the babies to understand. These are soft padded board books which will long last even if the babies try to rough use them.
