Hampton University, Morgan State University, or possibly University of Maryland

If I didn’t have my son, I would have been a student at Hampton University, Morgan State University, or possibly the University of Maryland. When I was in my junior year of high school, I had planned to go to an HBCU college or University of Maryland aka UMD or maybe go on to MC (Montgomery College) a two-year college then transfer to a four-year college but then a change of plans happened when I became a college teen mother and barely went back to college. These three universities were close to being my future college while I was in high school and that's coming from young seventeen-year-old me who had dreams and wishes she would have ended up at these universities and not be a stay-at-home mom watching her dreams fade away but anyways these are the three universities that I wanted to go to other than MC.

First off....

Hampton University

Hampton University

Hampton was my first choice while I was in high school and still was my choice when I was in MC. While I was taking First Year Seminar course before I had my son, my Professor assigned us (me and my colleagues) a PowerPoint project as a part of a final exam grade on what university we planned to transfer to after MC. I made a PowerPoint project on what four-year university college even made a video project (kind of like a music video) because of my wonderful presentation I received my A and a lot of my colleagues were hesitant to present their project. I was grateful that I passed on my project.

I was planning to join the Hampton Marching Force dance team along with the marching band for four years if I were in Hampton. However, the college was expensive so I thought about applying for scholarships when I transfer or if I ever get accepted.

Morgan State University

Morgan State University

My second choice was Morgan State University. I remember when I was googling the University of Maryland and I saw "Morgan State University" on related searches close to Towson University. I like the university colors similar to Watkins Mill High School colors. I thought about joining their dance team “The Morganettes” and other that has anything to do with Theatre Arts. I had friends who had enrolled in Morgan State and I was thinking about maybe being their roommate. While I was in MC, I found out my GPA was acceptable but my act score had a 14 score which wasn't acceptable for their campus so I would have been rejected.

University of Maryland

University of Maryland, College Park (possibly)

When I was in 8th grade, I went on a field trip to visit the University of Maryland at College Park, Maryland. When I first stepped foot at the University of Maryland, College Park, I was amazed at the campus, the buildings, and the dormitories, and it was way close to the metro so that way I would be able to see my family. Plus, it had a food court and movie theatre not like an ordinary school cafeteria that looked like the inside of the mall.

In my freshman year of high school, I thought I was gonna plan to go to UMD until my GPA was 2.71 and my act score wasn't met by the university in order to get accepted into UMD you have to have a 3.0 GPA, and a better act score higher than 14. I was hoping this would be my dream college but other plans took over while I was in high school.

If you want to read an article story on my life of being a single mother to my son feel free.

I am sure your young seventeen-year-olds had dreams of going to the universities you wanted to go to other than community college (nothing wrong with community college) or were already enrolled at your dream college. What was your dream college while you were in high school? Comment below...
